What You’ll Do (Roles & responsibilities)
As AI growth is accelerating, Cisco is developing ground-breaking technologies and customer solutions to lead the industry. These technologies are rapidly changing across different commodities.
Your role as technical leader in power supply technology is expected to excel at switching power supply design. It is imperative that you possess a robust understanding and practical experience in the intricacies of power supply design and knowledge how to quantify the design robustness and reliability. This specialized knowledge is crucial for the development and optimization of the highly efficient and reliable power delivery from facility power grid to networking equipment.
Your responsibilities encompass the end-to-end quality and reliability management of power supply units, advanced design and manufacturing technology evaluation, as well as supply chain resiliency management. You will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- Design Expertise: Ensure the designs meet technical requirements. Craft the design margin measures to quantify the design robustness at all applicable operating conditions and worst-case tolerance. This includes the specific circuitry tolerance analysis, the worst-case component stress measure against SOA (safe operating area), firmware control logic examination, transient operating status evaluation and redundant operating evaluation etc.
- Sub-tier component knowledge: A deep understanding of key sub-tier components used in power supply design. Make sure the components from quality suppliers with mainstream technology are selected for power supply design. Solid understanding how the components’ characteristic would impact power supply circuitry performance and stability. Craft and process sub-tier components quality and reliability examination through data analysis and design of experiments.
- Environmental and reliability qualification: Set reliability target. Identify the design weakness and reliability through TC, THB, PTC and vibration etc. Deeply understand the methodology of accelerated stress test to evaluate long term reliability. Able to specifically quantify the risk and look for the opportunities for improvement.
- Manufacturing readiness: Understand the end-to-end manufacturing process for complex power supply units. Examine the assembly and test process capability and assess quality control plan with adequate coverage to ensure sustainable manufacturing readiness.
- Standards Compliance: Ensuring that all designs adhere to industry standards (e.g., IPC, IEC, NEBS, Telcordia, IEEE, etc..) and standard processes, as well as any regulatory requirements that may apply to the specific application or market.
- Collaboration and Communication: Working closely and building relationships with multi-functional teams, including engineers from other subject areas and suppliers, and supply chain customers. This also involves effectively communicating and
presenting complex ideas, anticipate potential objections, and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt different points of view.
7. Problem-Solving: Lead and resolve design issues, quality reviews and root cause analysis throughout the product life cycle from early feasibility through end of life, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment to our commitment to excellence.
8. Program/Vendor Management:
Bring together and lead multi-functional teams comprised of internal and external customers in development and life cycle management of power supply including key sub-tier components. Manage relationships with key vendors/partners and act as primary point of contract between Cisco engineering and suppliers.
Your role will be pivotal in bringing to market the quality and reliable power supplies with high efficiency and density. We are cisco
#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference. Here’s how we do it.
We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re “old” (30 years strong!) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. A blockchain company. An AI/Machine Learning company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do – you can’t put us in a box!
But “Digital Transformation” is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)
Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, we give our egos a break and we give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, we take bold steps, and we take the difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
