What You'll Do

Cisco seeks a Solutions Engineer to partner with our Account Executives in a pre-sales technical role, showcasing Cisco product solutions-setting up demonstrations and explaining features and benefits to customers-and designing and configuring products to meet specific customer needs.

  • Perform technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects. Set up demonstrations and explain features and benefits.
  • Designing and configuring products to meet specific customer needs.
  • Ability to learn quickly and stay current with the latest business and technology innovations in order to gain access to the broad palette of Cisco technologies and applications in multiple vertical markets.
  • Assist with the development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities. Actively participate as a specialist on assigned Virtual Team and provides consultative support in their area of specialization to other Systems Engineers and Architects.

You will work with a team of Systems Engineers who partner with Account Managers. We work with partners and customers to ensure the best possible solution. We have been in roles from 2 years to 16 years and support and empower each other. We have a wide range of interests outside of work, but we all love technology.

Who You Are

We are seeking a professional to drive business outcomes through strategic account planning, engaging partners beyond IT, and demonstrating vertical expertise. The role involves achieving sales goals by identifying growth opportunities, acting as a change agent, and creating impactful customer messages. Candidates should have strong financial skill, the ability to analyze customer needs, and drive business planning. Effective time management, cross-functional team engagement, and excellent presentation skills are crucial. Building superior customer relationships and challenging them to innovate while maintaining trust, responsiveness, and a service-first attitude is crucial.

Our Minimum Requirements for this Role:

  • 5+ years related experience in a fast-paced high technology environment
  • Cisco product experience (required)
  • Competitive product experience (preferred)
  • BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent. CCIE certification Preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of baseline SE skills and in-depth knowledge in more than one area of specialization.

Preferred Experience:

  • Operating experience in: Datacenter/Virtualization Networking
  • Experience in coding or software development a huge plus
  • Experience with SONiC a huge plus
  • Understanding and conversant about company, competitors, technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
  • Must be viewed as a leader by senior management, peers, customers and Cisco corporate organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to participate as a team member and assume a leadership role for the team.
  • Ability to understand complex technical and selling situations and the ability to solve the problem or solicit the required resources.

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
