By demonstrating to customers how Cisco products can make them more productive, sales teams and partners can enlarge sales opportunities and shorten the sales cycle. From scripted, repeatable demos to fully customizable labs with complete administrative access, the Cisco dCloud platform provides content and access to field and channel partners on any network (internal & external), any device and in any location.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be part of the team responsible for day-to-day management of the dCloud and CPOC environment.  This includes proactive and reactive management, working with the design and implementation teams to install and remove equipment, configuring equipment as it is installed in the datacenter, implementing changes, providing input into weekly operations calls, timely reporting of issues, log file management, configuration of management tools and other standard day to day operational tasks.  This is a highly diverse role requiring an individual with strong technical skills, an engaging personality and the capacity to work with or without supervision.  Must have a strong desire to develop new skills and be a great team player. 

This is a fast paced and challenging environment offering you the opportunity to ‘make your mark.’ You will have support from the wider team but the expectation is that you ‘own’ your role.

Job Responsibilities

Day to Day

  • Infrastructure provisioning and troubleshooting (rack and stack)
  • Updating management systems and documentation
  • AD Account management and DNS entries
  • Troubleshooting networking and hardware issues
  • Handling requests from lab customers
  • Managing datacenter Infrastructure in RTP campus
  • Creating and resolving support tickets

On Demand

  • On-going project work
  • Produce High quality documentation (Visio, Omnigraffle, Confluence)

 

Minimum Requirement, Skills & Attributes

  • Managing network infrastructure - code upgrades, log file management, troubleshooting, configuring interfaces, access lists etc.
  • Provide guidance for junior members of the team
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Cisco IOS and/or NXOS, including the latest code revisions, upgrading/downgrading code and the CLI.
  • Demonstrable in-depth working knowledge of VLAN, STP and Trunking.
  • Current knowledge of Cisco ISR hardware, including Network Modules, Interface Cards, Power over Ethernet, etc.
  • Ability to Manage VMware and UCS environment (managing and maintaining)
  • Ability to image bare metal servers and install VMware vSphere.
  • Ability to install Windows, Linux and appliance O/S on Virtual Machines.
  • Ability to transfer files using FTP, TFTP, USB, , etc.
  • Ability to open and manage cases / trouble tickets with third-party vendors
  • Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SSH, HTTPS, and VPN in a Cisco environment.
  • An appreciation of the following would be useful - Cisco telephony solutions, Cisco Security products, Cisco wireless, Cisco UCS.

Selection Criteria

  • 5 years experience in an Operations focused role preferably with focus on troubleshooting and system admin
  •  
  • 3 years experience managing and configuring network infrastructure
  • 3 years experience physically building datacenter racking
  • Demonstrable understanding of networking and IP theory
    Significant skill and a real interest in troubleshooting
  • Ability to produce high quality documentation
  • Excellent spoken and written English

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter.  Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
