What You'll Do

You'll have an opportunity to work in fast paced environment offering you the opportunity to ‘make your mark.’ You will have support from the wider team but the expectation is that you ‘own’ your role. Ensure the delivery of a quality product by performing ad hoc and structured tests. A normal day would be Installing and removing equipment and handling Cabling and Power, Updating management systems and documentation, AD Account management, Troubleshooting, Scrutinising daily exception reports, Managing and validating backups, participating in Daily Ops Team Call

Ongoing project work, Build High quality documentation (Visio or Omnigraffle), Collate and present capacity planning data to larger team

Who You'll Work With

The successful candidate will be part of the team responsible for day-to-day management of the dCloud and CPOC environments. This includes proactive and reactive management, working with the design and implementation teams to install and remove equipment, configuring equipment as it is installed in the data centre, implementing changes, providing input into weekly operations calls, timely reporting of issues, log-file management, configuration of management tools and other standard day-to-day operational tasks. You'll closely work with; Content Developers, Project Managers, Technical Leads, Automation/UI Development Team, Engineering Documentation Specialist, Platform Team, NetOps and Support Teams, GEO Technical Partners.

Who You Are

This is a highly diverse role requiring an individual with strong technical skills, an engaging personality and the capacity to work with or without supervision. Must have a strong desire to develop new skills and be a great teammate.

  • Network infrastructure - code upgrades, log file management, troubleshooting, configuring interfaces, access lists etc.
  • Demonstrable ability to handle a VMware vSphere environment, working knowledge of Cisco IOS and/or NXOS, including the latest code revisions, upgrading/downgrading code and the CLI and in-depth knowledge of VLAN, STP and Trunking. Current knowledge of Cisco ISR hardware, including Network Modules, Interface Cards, Power over Ethernet, etc.
  • Ability to image bare metal servers and install VMware vSphere, Windows, Linux and appliance O/S on Virtual Machines. Ability to transfer files using FTP, TFTP, USB, Flash drives, etc. Ability to open and handle cases/trouble tickets with third-party vendors
  • Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model, SSH, HTTPS, and VPN in a Cisco environment.
  • An appreciation of the following would be useful - Cisco telephony solutions, Cisco Security products, Cisco wireless, BYOD, Cisco UCS.
  • Ability to travel (approx. 5-10% travel)

3-5 years experience in data centre operations role including data centre power and network cabling systems, administering Microsoft Windows Server environments, managing server infrastructure, configuring network infrastructure, physically building data centre racking and working with VMware ESX

Understanding of networking and IP & virtualisation theory, curiosity about troubleshooting, exposure to Linux and NetApp storage and to produce high quality documentation. Excellent spoken and written English
