Cisco is a leader in Data Center and AI networking innovation, building cutting-edge solutions that enable businesses to harness artificial intelligence and advanced data center networking technologies. We seek an experienced Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) specializing on NX-OS architectures incld AI networking solutions to join our dynamic team. Here, you will have the opportunity to work on developing the Nexus 9000 line of data center switches and their associated software that features application awareness, to make the network infrastructure flexible and agile for dynamic response to application needs, virtual machine workload mobility and cloud extension.
You will work with a diverse group of problem solvers and creative thinkers focusing on the Nexus 9000, NXOS, Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC), and Network fabric for Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. The role requires a high level of initiative, energy and rapid thinking.
Your Impact
As a senior NX-OS Networking Technical Marketing Engineer , you will bridge the gap between our engineering, sales, and marketing teams. You will play a pivotal role in driving product adoption by demonstrating technical expertise, creating impactful marketing collateral, and engaging with customers to showcase the value of our Nexus offering for all Data Center Architectures incld AI networking solutions. This hands-on role requires a high degree technical proficiency, marketing strategy, and customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
This dynamic role offers an opportunity to influence product direction while working closely with strategic customers and partners on next-generation data center solutions.
1. Technical Expertise and Enablement:
- Act as a technical expert for NX-OS architectures including NDFC , Nexus Dashboard networking products and solutions.
- Collaborate with major customers and Sales teams to understand and fulfill their Data Center Network Fabric requirements.
- Partner with engineering and product management to define and refine product requirements and solutions.
- Develop and execute the technical strategy for NX-OS incld Nexus Dashboard, focusing on AI-driven automation and AIOps.
- Provide technical training, demonstrations, and support to internal teams, partners, and customers.
- Represent the team & lead technical Deepdive sessions at large Cisco and Industry events
2. Marketing and Content Creation:
- Develop technical marketing collateral, including white papers, solution briefs, case studies, technical presentations, and videos.
- Write and present thought leadership content, such as blog posts, webinars, and conference presentations.
- Collaborate with the product and marketing teams to define messaging and positioning for DC networking solutions.
3. Customer Engagement:
- Work closely with customers to understand their use cases, gather feedback, and demonstrate product capabilities.
- Partner with the sales team to support pre-sales efforts, including delivering proof-of-concept (POC) demonstrations and addressing technical queries.
4. Solution Development:
- Develop and showcase real-world use cases and demos to highlight DC networking capabilities.
- Partner with the engineering team to provide feedback for continuous product improvement.
5. Event Participation:
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences as a technical evangelist.
- Engage with key collaborators to build relationships and promote the company’s solutions.
Our Minimum Qualifications for this role
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 15+ years of experience in technical marketing, product Engineering , pre-sales engineering, or a related technical role.
- Expertise in DC networking technologies, WAN or Service Provider and Knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VXLAN, Cloud, virtualization including high-performance computing (HPC), RDMA, Ethernet, Dynamic Load-Balancing techniques etc
- Experience in working with various software defined network controllers, ansible and other automation technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and hardware (e.g., switches, NICs, DPUs).
- Ability to tackle complex problems creatively. Good verbal and writing skills. Able to create white papers for publishing on Cisco’s website. Must be a great teammate and work well in small and large group environments. Comfortable making pitches to customers and Cisco employees.
Our Preferred Qualifications for this role:
- Hands-on experience with network performance benchmarking and tuning.
- Knowledge of open-source AI and networking tools and ecosystems.
- Proven track record of developing technical marketing content for a technical audience

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.
Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
