What You’ll Do
You will be part of Cisco’s Email Security Technical Marketing Engineering team. We help design, build, and deliver market-leading Breach Protection security products. These products form the foundation of Cisco’s innovative security analytics portfolio.
The role of the Technical Marketing Engineer is to enable sales and create field and customer apostles through:
• Being the customer’s Technical Advocate inside the Business Unit
• Evangelizing the value of Cisco security technologies to the field, channel, and customer
• Being the technical arm of the product management team and help drive product/solution adoption
TMEs have intrinsic product knowledge as well as detailed technical knowledge about a variety of networking environments where the product is installed and operates. TMEs should have the ability to clearly articulate customer use cases, technical differentiators of a product as well as work with Product Managers in identifying customer requirements and product gaps and helping Product Management prioritize those gaps. Excellent communications skills and extensive customer and field interaction is a must.
The role of the Technical Marketing Engineer is to enhance products and enable sales through:
· Being the technical advocate and domain expert on SaaS-based security Overs inside the Business Unit for customers.
· Evangelizing the value and utility of Cisco security technologies to customers, the field, and channel partners.
· Influencing the direction of product development decisions and partnering with peer groups to implement a complete vision for market leadership and industry excellence.
· Working with peer product teams across Cisco to drive native and orchestrated integrations to build world-class enterprise solutions.
· The Manager Technical Marketing Engineer enables the success of Cisco’s Breach Protection Suites with a focus on Cisco Email Security and Cisco XDR
· Executing the strategic plan for technical marketing consistent with the broader business strategy of the product portfolio.
· Develop compelling technical collateral by synthesizing complex concepts into customer, field, and channel-centric materials.
· Ensuring necessary content, training programs, and design implementations are available to the system engineers, solution architects, and partner technical communities.
· Engaging with strategic customers to better understand the environment where our products are deployed and where we should innovate to excel.
· Participating in the development process to provide in-depth customer and technical understanding to both Engineering and Product Managers.

Who You Are
You are an aspiring technical leader in cyber security with a superior work ethic and demonstrated success in security product design, implementation, and demonstration. As a qualified candidate, you bring IT and networking industry knowledge, a competitive background, and years of technology experience to aid in technical selling, explaining features and benefits to customers, and partners, and designing and configuring products and solutions to meet specific customer needs.
Basic Qualifications
· 5+ years related experience in designing, securing and managing medium to large- scale Email Security technology deployments in the enterprise and service provider markets.
· Extensive experience in designing, provisioning and supporting SMTP MTAs and integra=ng with cloud and customer premise email solutions
· Solid understanding of SMTP RFCs
· Experience with email and encryption, (TLS, SSL, S/MIME), mail filtering policy, DNS (DKIM/SPF and DMARC) and LDAP
· Experience in overseeing deployment, troubleshooting, performance optimization, event detection, incident response, and training of Secure Email technologies.
Preferred/Desirable Qualifications
· Master Degree or equivalent experience.
· Solid and proven knowledge on at least one of the following: MS365, Proofpoint, Abnormal, ESA, CES, Cisco XDR, Cisco Secure Malware Analytics.
· Experience with Python and ability to create analysis scripts to support troubleshooting, system monitoring, and diagnose functions.
· Experience with Yara rules for testing AV integration, contributing to improved malware detection.
· Knowledge of Splunk, Splunk Universal Forwarder deployment, configuration, and maintenance across Linux and Windows platforms to enhance system monitoring and security visibility.
· Experience in virtualization, Programming or Software Defined Networks is desirable.
· Experience in Scripting and API’s is highly desirable.
· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
· Strong ability to build relationships among Cisco sales, engineering, marketing, and customers.
· Outstanding communication skills and demonstrated ability in developing and delivering clear technical presentation and white papers on complex topics.
· Strong technical writing and presentation creation skills. Demonstrated ability in creating and delivering technical white papers and business/technical presentations.
· Ability to work with limited supervision in defining initial goals and addressing complex issues as they arise.
· 5-10+ years overall experience in fields such as technical or product marketing, sales, or engineering.
· Experience working with remote teams and a global organization which is 24x7.
· Agile and DevOps culture and interval development practices are key transformations we are undertaking.
· Willingness to travel up to 40% to support sales, training, and marketing efforts.
· Relevant certifications CCNA, CCNP, CCIE Security and other technical certifications are highly desired.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.
Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
