Technical Marketing Engineer - Smart Buildings

This position is for a Lead Technical Marketing Engineer to drive and evangelize for Cisco’s Enterprise Smart Buildings Solution. Cisco Smart Buildings offers a comprehensive end-to-end solution for IT and OT convergence in the carpeted enterprise space. It encompasses power, connectivity, security, assurance, and monitoring of various types of IOT endpoints over Cisco Switching infrastructure coupled with value added services and management delivered by Cisco DNA Center and Cisco DNA Spaces. Cisco has a rich partner ecosystem of OT endpoint manufacturers for “things” such as PoE LED lights, shades, blinds, USB-C dongles, smart desks, badge readers, HVAC among many others. By leveraging these innovative network technologies and solution- architects, developers, and operators can add immense value to planned or existing building structures. Through design with technology, they can build trusted workplaces featuring improved health and safety, smarter and more intuitive spaces, and reduced costs and resource usage, all while increasing sustainability.

 

The Cisco Smart Building Technical Marketing Engineer will develop on and evangelize the solution and its components and drive solution direction in close collaboration with product managers as well as engineering. You should be curious and eager to learn with little assistance, the new products and leverage your findings and deductions to provide valuable inputs to Engineering and the overall TME/PM organization. 

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 Drive related solution projects (software, features or new hardware) from concept to launch

• Create documents and presentations with technical details for the products and technologies

• Demonstrate and present the products and technologies to sales teams, customers and partners at internal and external events, conferences, EBCs, etc.

 Provide technical guidance and support to the sales teams and enable them to successfully sell our products

 Conduct labs and demos of the products and show the value add

 Work closely with Engineering teams to provide feedback and drive technical requirements for future roadmaps

 Work on analytics and telemetry tools

 Work on automation and programmability with NETCONF and YANG to develop automated methods of consumption and deployment

 Work with cloud software to enable next generation network design and network architectures

 

Required Skillset: 

 Around 10 years of prior industry experience and a minimum of Bachelor’s of Engineering Degree. Candidates should have a good mix of IT and OT exposure.

 Should have prior experience with Catalyst Switching Platforms and Solutions – preferably Catalyst 9000 switching, StackWise-480 and StackWise Virtual etc.

 Should have working knowledge of Layer 2, Layer 3 networking protocols and security features – VLANs, Etherchannels, DHCP, IPv4, IPv6, 802.1x, MAB, MUD, ISE.

• Must have detailed knowledge of Power Over Ethernet (PoE), its function and variants, standards and PoE related feature sets and capabilities on Catalyst Switching (preferably Catalyst 9000)

• Must have prior experience with different IoT endpoints, and knowledge of popular IoT protocols and traffic/data patterns.

 Should be good at conceptualizing and validating overall solution (end-to-end) 

 Must have good writing and documentation skills and should have authored documents such as deployment guides, deployment guides or validated design guides

 Must be able to collaborate with Third Party OEM vendors, communicate with a regular cadence

 Must be a self-starter who is able to function with very little supervision 

 Must be a good communicator who is able to easily explain the value and reasoning of the solution and translate it into world class collateral
