The Cisco Meraki Product Management (PM) team is seeking a highly motivated and creative Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) to support Meraki’s fastest-growing product line, MV with a focus on our Camera Intelligence. This groundbreaking family of security cameras uses Meraki’s cloud infrastructure to deliver easy-to-implement machine learning and computer vision to our customers. As the drivers of the vision for each product line in Meraki’s growing portfolio of cloud-based IT solutions, the Product Management team consists of individuals with a broad and diverse skill set—everything from strategy and analysis to technical troubleshooting (plus bike repair and cooking!).

Cross-functional communication is a must, as product teams work with multiple teams in Meraki’s global offices. Within the PM team, TMEs provide the technical backbone and are instrumental to the overall functionality and success of each product. As the most trusted advisor to the product manager, the TME is essential to the success of the product. TMEs are responsible for a variety of work, from funneling customer feedback into real product features and bug fixing/triaging, to working with global silicon manufacturers in Taiwan.

This product and this team is in the exceedingly rare position of being able to change a multibillion dollar industry. By focusing on simplicity, we are enabling the mass-scale adoption of cloud-managed physical security technology in a way that has never been done before.

With speed and agility being crucial attributes of Meraki, teams are small with individuals capable of outsized impact. What you do matters, and with the direct product team typically consisting of just a handful of people, you will see the outcome of your actions every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with engineering teams through design, testing, and product launch

  • Close collaboration with product management on shaping and influencing the product roadmap

  • Drive development and creation of impactful technical collateral to better enable our support, sales engineers, customers, and partners

  • Run beta and pilot programs

  • Meet with customers and prospects, share our vision, and understand their needs

  • Acting as a strong advocate on behalf of our partners to internal Meraki teams to ensure we are all aligned on completing our mission

  • Review and prioritize customer-reported bugs and critical issues and establish a plan to address them

Requirements:

  • Track of experience as Product Manager / Owner in a technical domain

  • Previous engineering experience

  • Efficient teamwork with variety of people and groups within an organization (internal/external customer support, channel partners, sales or systems engineering)

  • Familiarity with Linux systems administration and scripting languages like Ruby, Python, Javascript, or similar

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and software development

  • Understanding of network technologies like DHCP, DNS, network topologies, etc.

  • Ability to easily communicate complicated concepts to non-technical folks

  • An entrepreneurial, can-do attitude with a strong sense of product quality

  • Loves solving technical problems in creative ways

Bonus points:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Curious nature and desire to tinker: you want to pull things apart to see how they work

  • Love of new and emerging technologies

  • Ability to distill complicated ideas to just the right number of words

  • Experienced with technical writing and querying data using tools such as Salesforce/SQL

  • Understanding of camera and image sensor technology

  • Experience with AI/ML models, especially within the Computer Vision world

  • Experience in supporting, selling, or using physical security cameras, access control systems, or machine learning technologies

  • Experience in embedded or application engineering, technical support, product testing, or QA

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
