Our product portfolio includes solutions that span SD-WAN firewalls, Web-based proxies, Zero Trust proxies, and inspection and encryption services at a variety of network intersections. We are now engineering a highly available distributed security fabric that brings it all together.
We are seeking a strong developer who can participate in architecture design, technical requirements definition, and engineering execution. This individual will be collaborating with Senior Leadership, Product Management, and Customers.
What You Will Do
You will work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry on building out Cisco’s Hypershield solution. We are creating groundbreaking new technology from scratch. We work in a “startup” style environment with minimal bureaucracy.
You will be part of a small team driving the next evolution of security at Cisco and must be able to work under minimal direction. You will be looked to both internally and externally Cisco for your expertise, and as such must have deep experience in firewalls, secure web gateways, and/or SASE/SSE. You will use this knowledge coupled with your ambition to write high-quality, production-ready code to re-invent security with us.
Who You Are
You are an innovative software engineer with experience in designing control plane features and logical constructs and interested in making an impact in the field of network security. You are comfortable in design discussions with other architects and engineers. You can present architecture designs and solutions to multiple teams across organizations, capturing feedback that will help us drive consensus and gain alignment. You are not afraid to be creative, use innovative programming languages, technologies, and tools to drive groundbreaking new products.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience programming in Go in Linux based software platforms
- 7+ years working in cloud computing and network security environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands on experience writing processes, APIs and services for control plane functionality in Linux-based environments.
- Solid programming background in Go, writing libraries, unit tests, strong debugging skills and handle on the build/runtime environment.
- Experience leveraging security protocols, key management, encryption solutions or authentication systems.
- Ability to design APIs quickly, securely and efficiently: gRPC, REST, etc.
- Ability to develop features around the resources being controlled. e.g. messaging APIs, centralizing logging, caching, managing tenancy & tokens and onboarding, amongst others.
- Working as member of a remote or distributed team

Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. The recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.
U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
