What You'll Do

As a Technical Lead for Mixed Signal commodities (Linear power), you are expected to engage with Cisco design teams at the application level, engage with commodity suppliers to assess new technologies readiness and monitor their quality management, and partner with Cisco’s Global Supplier Management team to define the commodity strategy for Mixed Signal and develop partnership with the suppliers that are shaping up the space.

On the technology front, keep up with the latest silicon technologies in the commodity space (Linear/DC Power including power controllers and voltage regulators), market directions and business unit needs. You will engage with vendors to sense and understand the development of current and next generation product of Linear Power products including using Si/SiC/GaN technologies. Your responsibilities include aligning industry’s next-generation technology designs directions of Mixed Signal (Analog/Digital: power controllers, voltage regulators/power stages, POLs) with the Component Design Selection roadmap.

It is your responsibility that IC designs are accurately validated and characterized for optimal/High performance and high-quality production to support the delivery of functional silicon per system requirements and ensure suppliers’ best in-class IC design practices, methodologies, and processes are in place across the supply base to achieve industry leading long term component reliability.

When quality excursions arise during new product development or sustaining, it is expected that you manage quality reviews and lead the team to Root Cause, Closed Loop Corrective and Preventative Actions. You will also need to deal with unexpected challenges and communicate regularly in a professional manner to the project teams and management.

On the application front, you will work with the Cisco Business Units (BUs) engineering teams to understand power delivery requirements to guide Cisco’s product roadmap. Participate with BU's in system design review. Provide supporting strategies for use of the next-generation Mixed Signal (power controllers, voltage regulators/power stages, POL) architectures in the circuit designs and help guide and influence optimal component selection in circuit design. Review standard/reference layouts with respect to the mixed-signal Component Selection Strategy. You need to explore the trade-offs of the different approaches and propose the best solution to achieve or exceed the requirements in terms of power/area/linearity/bandwidth, etc.

You will partner with Sourcing Commodity Managers to support engineering’s product roadmap and development of holistic mixed-signal commodity solutions in alignment with the commodity strategy.

You will promote teamwork in a dynamic environment coordinating efforts to solve design problems related to component or supplier excursions, while highlighting key program risk to management and clearly explaining path to resolution. You will maintain strong working relationships with different partners and employ excellent communication skills to work multi-functionally with hardware engineering, the supply chain organization, and commodity suppliers.

You will be part of the Technology and Quality (T&Q) Organization within the Supply Chain Operations organization. T&Q is a key hub of technical innovation in Cisco. Members of the organization focus on evaluating and developing new technologies to enable sustained product differentiation. You will be a part of a diverse team that seamlessly blends different levels of expertise in several areas of semiconductor and systems design combining traditional knowledge with groundbreaking data analytics techniques to tackle increasingly complex problems.

You Will Regularly Engage With:

Cisco Business Units as your partners and customers: Influence the power system architecture roadmap and navigate the trade-offs between performance, quality, time to market, and cost to enable Cisco’s hardware engineering roadmap. Participate in the high-level architecture and design of electronic systems as required. Lead component Failure Analysis activities during development, production and field.

Suppliers of the commodity space you are managing: Influence and monitor mixed-signal suppliers ongoing development methodologies and processes in regards to performance assessment in line with supplier specifications and component long term reliability, in addition to ongoing assessment of supplier quality management systems capabilities.

Extended Supply Chain organization functions including Global Supply Management, Product Operations and Global Manufacturing Organization.

Who You Are

Education and/or Experience: BS/MS/Phd. Degree in electrical engineering, and 15+ years of electronics experience power systems design & development of next generation high power designs.

Strong device physics knowledge as it applies to analog IC designs including strong understanding from discreet components to power stage designs, fabrication, characterization/qualification, & reliability. You possess capabilities and knowledge in silicon node technologies, component reliability, and component performance n both calculated and demonstrated models.

Knowledge of MOSFET trench technologies is required. Strong technical expertise of electrical engineering principles in both analog and digital domains including electronics design experience in analog mixed-signal (regulators, LDOs, DACs, ADCs). Understanding of design performance and FOM tradeoffs.

Experience gained through R&D and product design.. Experienced and proficient in Linear Power component designs and in development of the next generation Linear Power components design.

Strong understanding of component reliability.

Strong component Failure Analysis capabilities to lead FA activities.

Knowledge in PCBA assembly process (manufacturing process and controls, test, and detection) is an added plus.

Driven, organized, adept at driving actions, resolving conflicts and communicates with ease at all levels.

Possess an ownership/leadership approach.

Self-starter with a “can do” attitude.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with large teams

Willing to travel (internationally and domestically) to visit commodity vendors and Cisco business units (when Travel is safe).
