Join Team Cisco, ranked #1 in World’s Best WorkplacesTM in 2019 and 2020 (https://www.greatplacetowork.com/wbw2020-list-resources). We are looking for one of the world’s best Systems Engineers to join us in our mission in “serving those who serve”; our customers serving in government and education in the Houston metro area, including cities, counties, K-12 schools, colleges and universities.
As a Cisco SLED (State/Local gov. and Education sector) SE, you will provide technical leadership of the sales engagement. In this dynamic, customer-focused role, you will partner with one or more strategic account manager(s) while solving our customers’ critical business and technical challenges. With your AM partner, you will orchestrate an extended team of technology and services specialists, aligning Cisco software and hardware solutions to your customers’ needs. You will understand the business drivers motivating technology purchases, and you will align Cisco’s vision and technology to the desired business outcomes of your customer. Most importantly, you will establish strong relationships across each customer organization, and be the trusted advisor to those who influence technology and vendor selection.
You are the "SE of tomorrow”, with a strong foundation in traditional and software-defined networking technologies, enterprise grade security and collaboration software platforms, cloud-ready data center compute, storage and networking technologies. You will draw from a wide range of skills; from distilling complex technical information when presenting to a CxO-level audience, to installing and configuring software and hardware for demonstration in proof-of-concept trials and lab environments. You have an expanding focus on network programmability through APIs, and are excited about adding new automation, scripting and programming skills to your arsenal.
You should excel at presenting technical architectures, solutions and products to key customer decision-makers, including Director-level and above. You should be comfortable in one-to-one or one-to-many speaking situations.
You should have relevant industry background and specific technical skills applicable to the design and implementation of complex network architectures and software platforms spanning public and private cloud, datacenter, core, edge and access networking.
Expertise networking with many or most of the following Cisco or competing product families is desired:
- Cisco Enterprise Networking family of switches, routers, wireless access points, SDN/SDA controllers, software-defined networking, automation and monitoring platforms.
- Cisco Data Center technologies including data center switching, compute, storage, and hyper-converged infrastructure; also including data center management, workload automation, application performance monitoring, and analytics applications.
- Cisco’s integrated security portfolio including network access control, Next Gen Firewall, endpoint and email security, Secure Internet Gateway, Multi Factor Authentication, and threat detection/response.
- Cisco Meraki cloud-managed full-stack networking, SD-WAN and device management.
- Cisco collaboration portfolio including voice, video, messaging, and team collaboration software and hardware endpoints and room systems.
You are highly collaborative and excel when working in a virtual team environment. You have strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience working across geographic and organizational boundaries. You enjoy an inclusive work environment surrounded by diverse thinkers and energetic doers. And you are maniacally focused on the success of your customers.
To succeed in this role requires significant presence at the customer's site, and you should be comfortable spending a portion of your time working “hands-on" in a lab or cloud-based demonstration environment delivering proofs of concept and supporting customer evaluations. Houston metro local travel via ground is required, and as well as occasional air travel within the US.
