The Senior System Application Engineer will be a member of the Sales and Marketing team working to promote and support next generation 100G-1T coherent optical communications products with our customers and partners.  This role is a senior contributor focused providing support to our customers and partners to ensure their successful development and deployment of next-generation telecom systems to carriers, network operators and data centers.  The role combines application of your existing engineering knowledge and skills with knowledge learned on the job from Acacia’s experts to meet the needs of our customer’s engineering teams. 

Above all your skills capturing, replicating, defining, and resolving diverse and highly technical issues will be called on frequently in this dynamic role.     

This engineer must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly technical environment.  You will provide technical leadership and cooperation to others on the team and with customer Engineering teams.  A successful candidate will be highly self-motivated, collaborative and passionate about delivering the most advanced high speed optical products in the world. 

Key Essential Functions:

  • Provide rapid level 1 and level 2 technical support for customer Engineering lab and deployed system field issues.
  • Advocate and communicate internally for customer product needs including specifications, features and roadmap.
  • Author Application Notes, Product Specifications and Python scripts and contribute to technical presentations, RFP responses, Marketing documents and market requirement documents.
  • This includes future roadmap discussions, alpha sample testing, host card development, system verification, product reliability and field issue resolution.
    

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Education:

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree majoring in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Computer Engineering, Optics or Physics.
  • 5 or more years of related experience is the Telecommunications or an adjacent market.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a knack for solving challenging problems.
  • Experience working with customers supporting optical communications products or systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to author and contribute to highly technical documents and materials including Application Notes, Manuals, Specifications, White Papers and Technology Presentations.
