About the team:

You will join the Cisco Meraki System and Solution Test (SST) team that is fully embedded within Software Engineering. The SST team builds and runs any and all software and hardware tests to ensure that new releases meet our quality and reliability standards. Our products are used in over a million networks and our customers rely on our products to serve tens of millions of people. With the large footprint that we have, quality is our highest priority. We are looking for a QA Automation engineer who is as passionate about quality as we are with a focus on the customer experience. Your contributions will make direct impact to the success of our business. As a SST Test Engineer, you will focus on the following:

  • SST QA Engineer to design and develop tools that test the functionality of Cisco products, validating quality and stability from a system perspective that emulates customer environments.
  • Perform test planning, automation, manual testing of Wireless LAN Controller and Access Point features attending to customer issues for Enterprise Wireless Products.
  • Work with local and remote teams to review Product Requirements Document, SW Functional and Design Specifications, and other meaningful documentation to extract test requirements and provide design/execution for testability input and system automation.
  • Increase test efficiency and effectiveness through review of customer found issues and application of appropriate test approach, technology, tools, and innovation.
  • Adopt Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques to uplift test automation and manual execution.
  • Help the test team to expand test technology and networking knowledge by keeping abreast with the latest developments.
  • Help the department to retain this knowledge through systematic archival of meaningful documentation and equipment.

You are ideal for this role if…

  • You have hands-on wireless knowledge on 11ac, 11ax and 11be standards
  • You have hands-on L2 (VLANs, WLANs, LACP, etc) and L3 protocol knowledge (OSPF, VRF, ISIS)
  • You are proficient with writing quality code (automation test code)
  • You have 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance with a focus on test automation
  • You have 5+ years hands-on experience building and maintaining test suites, experience with scripting languages like Python
  • You have 3+ years of experience with Jenkins, XPRESSO and other DevOps Tools
  • You are a proven technical communicator
  • You are an enthusiastic advocate for testing best practices
  • You use data and metrics to inform decisions
  • You are able to weigh technical trade-offs against business goals
  • You hold deep technical curiosity

Bonus points if you have the following:

  • Experience with Docker and/or other container technologies
  • CCIE and equivalent certifications
  • OpenAI Tools on Larege Language Models (LLM)
  • Experience with Rails
  • Experience with DevOps Open source tools

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
