We are seeking a Supply Base Engineer for our electromechanical commodity to support the design and manufacturing of our networking hardware. In this role, you will own and drive the strategy for electromechanical commodity sourcing including the commercial, operational and technical performance of the supplier base partners. You will be responsible for quality, product and material availability, and cost that spans across all product lines.


Supply Base Engineer for Interconnect Commodity (Cable Assemblies & Connectors) 

 

Your work will involve:

  • Support Sourcing Manager with supplier sourcing initiatives, supplier qualifications and continuing improvement

  • Provide assessment of supplier product technology, manufacturing capability and quality control

  • Compose Meraki’s requirements for Interconnect commodities

  • Review and approve component specifications and drawings for new product designs and 2nd source approval

  • Generate new part numbers and manage ECNs, MCNs and PCNs through Agile PLM

  • Collaborate with Quality Team and JDMs for component qualifications and manage the progress

  • Manage and monitor key component quality

  • Drive component standardization across programs and product line when possible 

  • Customize component DFM and DFA reviews and manage development schedules to meet NPI build schedules

 

 

You have: 

  1. BS/MS or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience as cable assembly or connector engineer, supply base engineer or design engineer

  3. Strong knowledge of Interconnect requirements and technologies, willing to take on new commodity

  4. Experience with Agile or a similar PLM environment.

  5. Experience working with Asian-based contract manufacturers and component suppliers

  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin

  7. Excellent project management and data collection skills

  8. Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, highly cross-functional environment

  9. Passion on the details and continuous improvement

  10. Ability to travel internationally 20% of the time

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
