Come join the Cisco Talos Research and Intelligence organization, focusing on software development and architecture, as this team of highly creative engineers innovates and creates critical software pieces of our security backend systems.

The Talos Backend Software DevOps organization plays a pivotal role in providing critical security intelligence, data, and tools to both the research teams and Cisco security email, web, enterprise networking, and firewall products to protect our enterprise customers from cyberattacks.

What You'll Do
As a Technical Leader, you’ll be responsible for leading all aspects of a portfolio of software applications in the security backend to both innovate and maintain these mission-critical systems from a technical perspective. Project delivery requires adherence to effective delivery processes, specifically Cisco Agile. You will collaborate with a wide-range of multi-functional teams, both within and outside the organization, to cover program management, architecture, infrastructure, deployment, and support during all phases of the software application life cycle.

About You
  • Experienced at providing technical leadership to solve business problems
  • Possess flexible communication skills to proactively represent the team in meetings, write architectural reference documents, detailed functional and cross-functional requirements, conduct technical discussions with backend team leads, and members, present a high-level product plan to executives, and report project status to managers
  • Motivated to provide technical leadership which makes everyone around you better
  • Passion about winning over the bad actors
  • Able to understand the big-picture and turn ideas into demos, demos into shippable products, and data into efficacy
  • Experienced with early and late-phase software development processes - from concept to execution and performance optimization
  • Possess the breadth of experience to take hands-on ownership of a product portfolio from top to bottom, including architecture, design, development, documentation, test, deployment, and operations
  • Have the discernment to know when a “rocket ship” plan vs. a “bicycle” plan is needed, and the interpersonal and organizational skills to develop and deliver either plan
  • Team oriented, passionate about uniting diverse teams across the globe to effectively tackle and resolve complex problems
  • Driven to provide mentorship, motivation, and vision to senior engineers
Skills and Experience

  • Networking expertise in a Big Data offering is highly desired
