Meet the Team
As part of Cisco’s America’s Internet & Mass-Scale Infrastructure team, you’ll collaborate with account teams, fellow engineers, and customers to define and deliver innovative solutions that set the benchmark for switching, routing, optical, SDN, and automation. You’ll act as a trusted advisor for customers and a source of thought leadership for the industry, contributing to Cisco’s prominence in the service provider market.
Your Impact
You are a technical leader and a hands-on expert. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of ground breaking, AI-ready, software-defined infrastructures that enable next-generation service provider networks. You will guide RFPs, proofs of concept (PoCs), and architectural designs, ensuring alignment with customer objectives and industry trends.
You will lead cross-functional engineering efforts, delivering consultative support and expertise to customers in strategic accounts. Your influence will extend beyond individual accounts, as you work to shape Cisco’s product strategy by advocating for field and customer needs with Development teams. You will also manage customer expectations, ensuring alignment with product and solution capabilities, while continuously driving thought leadership in the broader networking and service provider industries.
Minimum Qualifications:
You are an accomplished technical leader with deep expertise in networking and automation. You are just as comfortable behind a keyboard as you are in front of customers, confidently engaging at both technical and business levels. You combine exceptional architectural design skills with hands-on implementation expertise to deliver transformative solutions. With a forward-thinking mindset, you influence not only your customers but also the wider industry through thought leadership, speaking engagements, and innovative solution design.
- SP R&S CCIE certification is strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in networking, including consulting, service implementation, and operational expertise.
- Expert-level knowledge in routing, switching, optical networks, transport, SDN, and network automation.
- Deep knowledge of multi-vendor solutions and the competitive landscape.
- Proven track record in guiding complex RFPs, PoCs, and architectural designs for large-scale service providers.
- Experience in delivering technical consulting and innovative designs tailored to customer needs.
- Exceptional communication skills to simplify complex concepts and drive customer engagement at all levels.
- Extensive experience working directly with technologies in lab and production environments.
- Proven ability to deploy and demonstrate solutions, with strong scripting and automation capabilities (e.g., Python).
- Recognized as a thought leader, with a history of influencing product strategies through field advocacy.
- Distinguished speaker at conferences, such as Cisco Live, with a passion for sharing knowledge and shaping industry trends.

All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
