The Cloud + AI Infrastructure team delivers one scalable strategy with local execution for data center customer transformation and growth. We are the worldwide go-to-market compute and data center networking engine gathering market transitions and allowing sellers to expand growth for customers and Cisco. Alongside our colleagues, Cloud & AI Infrastructure builds the sales strategy, activates sellers and technical communities, and accelerates selling.

Your Impact

We are seeking a Solutions Engineer – Compute & Artificial Intelligence (AI) to join our dynamic sales team. As a Specialist Solutions Engineer for our Compute & AI business, you will drive the adoption of our Compute & AI solutions in the growing Neocloud space. You will identify potential clients, understand their specific needs, and provide tailored Compute & AI solutions that enhance their business operations. This role requires a deep understanding of Compute & AI technologies and experience relaying technical concepts to a diverse audience.

Responsibilities

  • Build awareness, fostering education and driving energy for Compute & AI with both internal and external team members, partners, etc.
  • Act as a link between technical teams, account teams, executives, partners/customers.
  • Showcase AI solutions/products, its potential and promote its tactical and technical responsibilities.
  • Play an important role in the design, development and promotion of Compute & AI Solutions and address challenges.
  • Travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of technical presales experience selling Compute, Storage, and Network solutions.
  • Understanding of Python or GO and familiarity with database systems such as: MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Snowflake or BigQuery.
  • Knowledge of data processing methodologies such as ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and OLAP (Online Analytical Processing)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as: AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, Google Cloud and IBM Cloud
  • Experience writing proof of concept and creating documentation for deployment focusing on application acceleration, automation/management efficiencies, enterprise edge, and AI/ML solutions
  • Experience with Data Center compute platforms and their respective designs down to the CPU, Memory, GPU & Storage layers.
  • Knowledge of GPU communication protocols and NVIDIA GPU product lines.
  • Ability to have a full-stack solution discussion with customers surrounding NVAIE & RH OpenShift to enable AI workloads

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Presentation skills with the ability to deliver engaging workshops to both technical and non-technical audiences on AI topics
  • Experience with version control tools and platforms such as Git and Github
  • AI experience with Nvidia, IBM, Microsoft, Dell, NetApp, HPE, and/or other AI vendors
  • Understanding of language models (LLMs), such as GPT-3, BERT, or similar
  • Expertise in training and fine-tuning LLMs using popular frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers.
  • Experience in deploying LLM in cloud environments and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies for scalable and efficient model deployment, such as Docker, Kubernetes or similar

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter.  Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
