At Cisco Wireless, we simplify and secure wireless enterprise connectivity across the world. We are the market leader, and we serve a diverse range of customers, inclusive of office buildings for some of the largest global companies; hospitals, universities, schools, factories, mines, hotels, retail shops, stadiums, and large public venues.

Our wireless access point software team builds a wide range of Wi-Fi access points including the latest Wi-Fi 7 APs (Access Points). Our software team covers platform bring up for everything from boot loaders to web servers on prototype hardware, kernel, driver integration, Wi-Fi features, wireless security, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) radio, and other sophisticated functions integrated into our product.

You'll be exposed to software for most advanced technologies for wireless infrastructure devices. This team automates and qualify these platforms, your contributions as part of this team will have direct impact into connectivity experience for critically important applications worldwide.

What You'll Do:

As a deeply motivated and skilled Software developer. You're encouraged to deliver and lead through others, as well as personally working to reach innovative solutions to business problems. You will work closely with other team members and cross functional teams to design a solution, implement it, and take it through qualification all the way to customer shipment and support. You are excited to be the one responsible for power-on and bringing life to the most advanced networking system in the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate on a project and collaborate with other engineers in the development of our next generation Wi-Fi products
  • Design and deliver new software and features for Wi-Fi Access Points
  • Day to day activities involve building software by writing code, as well as modifying software to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces
  • Team up with test and validation engineers to help with system test and integration

Required skills:

  • 1-2 years employed experience, in addition to BS/MS qualification in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent
  • You are an excellent C/C++/Python programmer and have strong analytical and logical solving skills
  • Experience working on TCP/IP network layer protocols
  • Wireless background specifically knowledge of 802.11 and Wi-Fi is desirable.
  • Experience with packet forwarding and datapath are desired
  • Good understanding of Linux and network resource management
  • You possess the skills to multi-task in exciting, dynamic environments
  • Strong social and interpersonal skills, with a highly developed ability to work with customers to understand their sophisticated networking infrastructure level requirements and design solutions for them
  • Strong team building skills.

Bonus Points for:

  • Having knowledge of management stack or hands on experience gained as an intern or apprentice in any wireless controller or cloud-based management solution
  • Being open to continuous learning and committed to ongoing self-improvement.
  • Being self-motivated, strong sense of ownership, good teammate. You should be able to own large portions of the software from a technical perspective

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
