At Cisco Meraki Wireless, we simplify and secure wireless enterprise connectivity across the world. We are the market leader, and we serve a wide range of customers which includes office building for largest companies in the world, hospitals, universities, schools, factories, mines, hotels, retail shops, stadiums, large public venues.
Our wireless access point software team builds a wide range of Wi-Fi access points including the latest Wi-Fi 7 APs (Access Points). Our software team covers platform bring up for everything from boot loaders to web servers on prototype hardware, kernel, driver integration, Wi-Fi features, wireless security, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) radio, and other sophisticated functions integrated into our product.
In this team, you will get exposed to software for most advanced technologies for wireless infrastructure devices. Same team will also automate and qualify these platforms. Your contributions as part of this team will have direct impact into connectivity experience for critically important applications across the world.
What You'll Do
You are deeply motivated and skilled Software developer and automation Engineer. You are expected to deliver and lead through others, as well as personally working to reach innovative solutions to business problems. You will work closely with other team members and cross functional teams to design a solution, implement it, and take it through qualification all the way to customer shipment and support. You are excited to be the one responsible for power-on and bringing life to the most advanced networking system in the world.
Responsibilities:
- Review product requirements document and understand the customer use case.
- Work with senior architect to help in designing and drafting software functional specifications for a particular feature.
- Work with senior development engineers to develop the feature and participate in early unit test and integration test.
- Design Test Plan based on customer use cases.
- Participate in functional quality testing and end to end QA testing.
- Automate use cases using Pythons or Ruby.
- Participate in innovative Software test initiatives.
- Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and evangelizing engineering standard methodologies.
- Accountable for the stability of our product with a high customer focus.
Required skills:
- 2+ years of experience with BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Excellent Python or Ruby scripting/automation experience.
- Ability to write C and C++ professional production code.
- Have working experience in core network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP)
- Have effective interpersonal skills and a strong ability to collaborate with others.
- Are proactive and willing to learn new things and tackle new challenges.
- You possess the skills to multi-task in dynamic environments.
- Ability to work with customers, understand their networking infrastructure, debug and solve their network problems.
Bonus points:
- CCNA/CCNP/CWNA/CCIE certificate is a big plus.
- Cisco Wireless background specifically knowledge of 802.11 and Wi-Fi is desirable.
- Deep understanding of wireless protocols and network security fundamentals.
- Experience building cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g. web applications)
- Experience with development and test tools like GitHub, Yocto, OpenWRT, Gerrit, GIT, Spirent or Ixia or iPerf Traffic generation etc.

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.

All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues.
