What you’ll do
In this role, you will lead the interaction with Cisco’s Silicon One customers to help with Silicon One product adoption, software development, documentation, technical support, trouble shooting, and maintenance.
You will be the representative for all questions, inputs, concerns and guidance about the product’s features, configuration, scale and performance. You will gather information from customers on their requirements, difficulties and help them implemented in software to improve software quality and customer experience. You will gain intimate knowledge of the Silicon One hardware architecture and software programming models, working closely with the architecture, hardware and software teams. You will be responsible to develop innovative applications, customizations of Silicon One software to better suit the customer’s needs. As the lead engineer, you also will be a mentor to a team of engineers, assisting them with training, design/implementation related issues and reviews.
Who you’ll work with
Our team develops the full software stack enabling the Silicon One network processors. We work with the Open Standards community and our incredible customers to deliver best in class routing and switching platforms. Work also with architecture and design teams to define the next generation of ASIC products being developed.
You will work multi-functionally with ASIC teams, customer engineering teams to understand and prioritize features, capabilities.
These platforms play a key role in the emerging field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. We work with subject-matter experts around the world who share a common mission to deliver world-class products and to have fun doing it!
Who you are
You are an accomplished technical leader with a wealth of knowledge in software development for the networking domain. You have mastered multiple areas in networking and your knowledge in Control and Routing plane is highly regarded. You have expertise in building large complex systems designed to handle high scale/high density/redundancy. You are passionate about collaborating with customers, provide technical consultation, lead product adoption, and conduct in-depth solving for effective problem resolution. Driven by self-motivation, you exhibit a strong sense of ownership in all your endeavors.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree and 8+ years of experience in an Engineering role or Master's degree with 6+ years of related experience
- Experience using C++ and Python for programming and design.
- Experience in algorithms and data structures.
- Experience with networking protocols and technologies
- Experience in analytical reasoning and debugging, with practical experience in using tools such as GDB, PDB, etc.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with cloud, data center, or edge networking products
- Experience with SAI, Sonic or other Network OS.
- Experience with writing and testing software for high performing and scalable networking products.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
