At our development center outside Oslo, we have 350 engineers working with hardware and software - from idea to design, mechanics, audio, media processing and artificial intelligence. Our solutions are used by small businesses and large corporations, universities, governments, and international organizations.

We are looking for our new Software Engineering Summer Interns to join us Summer 2024.

What you will do:

During a summer internship you will get the opportunity to explore a variety of technologies, while working together with an existing team. It is important for us that our summer interns feel included and that they get to work on real life projects that are relevant and useful to us.

The project you will be working on will be decided based on your field of interest and our current needs. If you have a great idea, you might even get the opportunity to pursue this during your internship. The following examples are projects that previous interns have been working on:

  • real-time multi head pose detection
  • improving the microphone beam selector using deep learning
  • office room analytics application based on live and historical sensor data from our devices
  • noise reduction with deep learning
  • synchronous camera focusing for immersive systems
  • showing personal calendars in meeting rooms based on face recognition
  • using Falco on Kubernetes for threat detection

Who are you?

More important than your track-record, is your commitment, curiosity, and willingness to learn. We are looking for people who want to become an expert in their field through working with us. To succeed, you also need to be a team player. We need to combine our brains, competences, and expertise to deliver top of the shelf products.

In addition, do you:

  • study towards a master’s or bachelor´s degree in a related subject?
  • have an interest in programming and development?
  • have a willingness to learn new skills and broaden your knowledge?
  • have the ability to live and work in Norway?

Why us?

Our people are the driving force behind our success and innovations – constantly challenging the way we work, live, play and learn. We depend on our people’s creativity and ability to solve interesting problems, while making sure they are maintaining a healthy work-life balance. At Cisco Norway we strive to build an inclusive culture where we can grow and excel together.

We are also proud to be #1 in Fortune 100 Best Companies to work for in 2022, and #1 Norway’s Best Workplace in 2023. We can offer you:

  • a fun summer with a competitive salary, and real-life projects that are important to Cisco.
  • challenging and interesting tasks that are relevant to your education and creativity.
  • a Cisco Fun group – dedicated to creating social activities and great memories
  • a Cisco Play group – that organizes team sports, yoga and weekly bootcamps at our in-house fitness center
    - and of course, free ice cream on warm summer days!

“The best about being an intern in Cisco was the opportunity to get to know Cisco and all the inspiring and engaging people who works there. In addition to exciting tasks and lots of fun, I felt as I was a part of a big family for a summer.”

Message to applicants applying to work in the U.S.:

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. hiring location. The recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
