We're looking for a bright and motivated development engineer to join the Enterprise Switching development team, you will be part of a fast growing and industry leading product-line.

As part of this team you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of assignments in  forwarding group.

What You'll Do

People in this role will be responsible for crafting, coding and testing the forwarding component with end-to-end knowledge. You will have the opportunity to influence the network behavior by interacting with Technical Leads and Distinguished engineers across multiple sites in Cisco. This job is for you if you derive thrill in crafting a SW piece with complex requirements. This role is for you if you believe you are a problem solver and you can articulate the problems in a way that people start seeing solution in it as well.

The position is in the campus forwarding team, working on L2/L3 new feature support, feature enhancements and sustenance on Doppler and Silicon One asics and/or Cisco internal network processors across campus architectures

 Who You Are

IBNG Switching forwarding team focusses on a wide range of products starting from access, aggregation and core in campus networks. Our products are primarily targeted to Enterprise campus networks, data center and SP access. Majority of the campus customers in government, educational, financial sectors in US and around the world use products built by this team. We work on all aspects of developing these boxes from ROMMON, Operating System, system infrastructure, Interface cards, drivers to forwarding features like L2/L3 protocols, MPLS, Segment routing, VPLS. We work on various technology areas like L2/L3 protocols, MPLS, Segment routing, VPLS, TDM, Optical & system side drivers.

Qualifications

Expertise needed (Mandatory):

The position is in the campus forwarding team, working on L2/L3 new feature support, feature enhancements and sustenance on Doppler and Silicon One asics and/or Cisco internal network processors across campus architectures

• Working on router, switches.
• Expert level knowledge of the C/C++ programming.
• Hands on with Unix/Linux based development environment.
• Excellent coding and debugging skills commensurate with experience.
• Ability to work with large legacy code and taking advantage of those.
• Practical experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: TCP/IP, L2/L3 forwarding, multicast, routing protocols, Segment Routing Protocols.

Expertise needed (Preferred):

• Prior IOS/IOS-XE experience.
• Working on Datapath of routers and switches
• Prior experience of working on Network Processors
• Deployment knowledge of router and switches.
• Prior experience of Cisco products.
• Python / Any scripting language.
