Together we build for the future by designing simple solutions for complex problems. And that’s why we’re the most loved and trusted name in security.
What you’ll do…
As a Software Engineer on the Core Authentication team, you’ll be joining a new team whose aim is to reimagine how authentication works at Duo. As Duo moves to offer authentication offerings beyond Multi-Factor (SSO, Passwordless, Cisco Zero Trust) the need for shared services and features among them increases. The vision of this team is to identify and create these shared services, which can then be used as building blocks across Duo’s products. You’ll work alongside other engineers, architects, and cross-team collaborators as the team completes this vision.
Our ideal candidate has optimally developed highly scalable web applications and has a solid foundation of software development standard processes. Experience thinking through architectural trade-offs, developing with microservices, or interest working in the space are a big plus.
If you're coming up short in these areas, but think you could still knock it out of the park, convince us why!
Skills you have…
- 3+ years professional software engineering experience. We are willing to hire more junior or more senior if the right candidate comes along.
- Experience with Python or a desire to learn
- You are committed to Quality and experienced with modern software testing practices
- You love working within a successful team, learning from and instructing others
- Experience with SQL and relational database models
- You have a history of writing performant, maintainable code.
- You value automated testing as much as writing expressive, clean code.
- Pragmatic problem solving - you can deliver results while not succumbing to analysis paralysis and over complication.
- You approach new challenges with curiosity and are energized by the opportunity to learn new techniques.
Even better if…
- You have experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- You are familiar with asynchronous programming patterns
- You have a solid understanding of security best-practices in web development
Reasons why you should apply
If this role and the security field is exciting to you, we encourage you to apply - even if you don’t meet all 100% of the description or qualifications. If you have been an effective technical contributor to software projects and can show consistent examples of having led others, regardless of role or title, we want to hear from you.
