In Lysaker, near Oslo, you find Cisco Webex Devices R&D Center. We make the best video conference systems in the world – whether you’re at your desk, in the meeting room or in the Boardroom. We make both hardware and software and develop all parts of Webex Devices under the same roof - from idea to design, mechanics, industrial design, user experience, machine learning and artificial intelligence. By making both hardware and software ourselves, we're in an amazing position to be creative and innovate with our products.
Video and audio quality is at the core of what we do, and now we're looking for developers that can join our Media Quality & Analytics team to help us push the limit of what we can achieve even further. Our goal is to make our devices deliver best-in-class media quality across the globe under any network conditions. To do this we use world-leading technologies in combination with analysis of metrics and an automated test lab where we continuously run advanced scenarios on real devices.
What you will do
You will be working with a wide range of real time media protocols and resilience techniques, in a cross-discipline team where there's also competence in media encoding/decoding, metrics, analytics, and test automation.
The team is part of a bigger software group with broad and deep technology competence. We use state of the art hardware, technology, methods and tools, and have a culture where knowledge is shared across disciplines. We do continuous integration and deployment of a full embedded software stack, including a custom OS. We strive to use modern C++ and adapt the latest standards and are rigorous about using test driven development.
You are expected to interact and cooperate with other groups in Cisco Webex that works on the same technologies in cloud infrastructure and mobile and desktop clients, making sure that the same high quality is met across our extensive and diverse solution.
What you need to be eligible
- Relevant education.
- 2+ years of relevant working experience. Experience with real-time audio and video over the public internet is a benefit.
- Deep knowledge of programming, preferably C++.
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including modern development methodologies.
- Good collaboration skills and an attitude for team cooperation.
- A willingness to learn from and share your knowledge with others
- Good English verbal and written skills
