MEET THE TEAM 

Cloud Operations (part of the Network, Infrastructure and Cloud Services) lead the architecture, design, build, security and the operations of the private cloud (OpenStack and VMware, various PaaS platforms) and Public cloud services (AWS and GCP) to help the clients choose the right IaaS and PaaS offerings for their workloads. Cloud Operations also provides technical consultation for architectural guidance, deployment options and handled services to help clients from on-boarding to decommission through GitOps operating model. The organization today is focused on strengthening governance, security, observability to ensure complete visibility, security, and manageability of the client workloads to be able to support in a reliable manner. 

You will be working alongside other Site Reliability Engineers who are passionate to work with cloud-based applications and push the way we use multicloud platforms in our business. You will help build new microservices and infrastructure to improve the way we conduct our workflow. Cloud Operations team works in a fast paced, agile environment and ready to learn new things in an instant. Making use of the best Cisco has to offer by integrating these products with the wider spectrum of 3rd Party services to provide a best-in-class Cloud service.

YOUR IMPACT 

You will be a member of a site reliability engineering team that uses tools and integrations for a portfolio of cloud infrastructure services for deploying and handling Cisco’s critical business services through GitOps. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with extensive experience in Devops and GitOps, to join a dynamic and agile team of versatile engineers who enable customers to move their workloads to cloud native hybrid cloud model using both Private and Public Clouds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Automate OS provisioning, Lifecycle and configuration management using primarily Python, Ansible, terraform and other tools. 
  • Strong operation skills in solving problems infrastructure issues. 
  • Strong in Linux Operating System, CISCO UCS, VMware and Openstack technologies. 
  • Dealing with security patches and issues at the UCS Hardware, RHEL OS layer. 
  • Deploy Docker containers and Kubernetes. 
  • Provisioning new infrastructure and configuration/life-cycle management. 
  • Ensure the quality, performance, robustness, and scalability of the services that are implemented, perform bug fixes and triaging issues. 
  • GitHub, GitHub Action, Jenkins, Argo. 
  • Encourage and promote the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and methods. 
  • Software development lifecycle include design, development, testing, packaging, deployment, upgrade, and support. 
  • Collaborate with other core services team members to define roadmaps, write clear user-stories with well-defined acceptance criteria, design, and build solutions. 
  • Global knowledge of IT Infrastructure applies to develop standard solutions that can be demonstrated across multiple areas; Chips in to the development of new technical principles and concepts. 
  • Looks at new and emerging technology and resolve group applicability. 
  • Proactively engages and/or creates multi-functional teams to solve problems or add business value. 
  • Generates ideas and/or technical strategies and presents them to peers for feedback. 
  • Decisions beyond own functional area or project; Practice DevOps supporting application from development through the operation lifecycle. 
  • We are seeking a versatile, expert, and success-driven Site Reliability Engineer with shown leadership skills and who has a passion for enterprise cloud infrastructure automation and DevOps frameworks. You have a proven track record of designing, developing, and handling cloud infrastructure Ops code using open-source technologies. You have previous experience in working with software development applications, private and public cloud computing platforms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum 4+ years of strong software development experience with a focus on continuous delivery and deployment and cloud automation
  • Security protocols include OS hardening, firewalls, iptables, and working with InfoSec.
  • Software programming experience in one or more programming languages (Python preferred)
  • IaC experience – Terraform, Ansible, Github, Github Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Conjur/Vault
  • Strong understanding of Linux/RHEL systems and experience in Kubernetes(k8S). 
  • Software design patterns, SDLC, Opensource Development, Test Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or equivalent is required. 

Non-Technical Requirements: 

  • Leadership in building and maintaining SRE technologies.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Agile and secure software development practices.
  • Understand IT processes, including Design, implementation, security and Operations.
  • Willing to chip in to documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to engage and influence.
  • Self-motivated, able, and willing to help where help is needed.
  • Able to build and establish relationships, be culturally sensitive, have goal alignment and learning agility.
  • High-reaching to work with geographically distributed teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Understanding of AI/ML technologies. Implement standard methodologies for Infrastructure as a Code with Golang along with MLOps
  •  Ensure reliability, and scalability of AI systems while collaborating closely with data scientists, researchers, and other engineering teams
  • Experience building cloud-based applications using micro-services and deploying in containerized environments. 
  • Networking basics such as GSLB, SLB, routers and switches
  • Monitoring & Logging systems – Prometheus/ELK

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter.  Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
