Your Impact

As a Senior UX Researcher, you will work with a remote, cross-functional team of researchers and designers to uncover and understand user needs across a variety of problem areas.

You will engage with product design and engineering teams to synthesize data and communicate insights. You will work across the research spectrum, from moderated exploratory interviews to surveys, always thinking of creative ways to get the data you need.

Some of your basic responsibilities will include:

  • Design, plan, conduct, synthesize, and communicate user research projects with tools like Maze, Optimal Workshop, Miro, etc. to inform design, including but not limited to usability studies, heuristic evaluations, interviews, surveys, user personas, journey maps, service blueprints, and benchmarks.
  • Demonstrate skill and creativity in selecting and executing the right mix of methods (both qualitative and quantitative) to provide actionable recommendations to research questions and business goals.
  • Design user research surveys (with tools like Qualtrics) and analyze your results using basic descriptive analyses (like percentages, sums, and averages) and advanced statistics.
  • Communicate your findings in a clear, concise, and visual (as appropriate) manner to our key stakeholder project teams and provide recommendations to drive important action based on those findings.
  • Work closely with the UX and visual design teams to take your research into prototyping and visual mockups and use these mockups to conduct usability studies and further iterations.
  • Be a leader in the organization through external and internal eminence and formal and informal mentoring of less senior practitioners.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field. An advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) is preferred and can substitute for 2 years of experience.

  • Must have at least 3 years of experience contributing to initiatives that define the future of work in a technology environment. Demonstrated alignment with organizational goals related to innovation, speed, productivity, and competitive advantage, with at least 2 significant projects reflecting these objectives.
  • Must provide a portfolio with at least 3 examples of past research projects that resulted in measurable organizational impact, showcasing the ability to translate user insights into actionable recommendations.

Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
