Who You Are

We are seeking a hard-working Senior Software Engineer to join our AI team in building an AI Firewall solution. This role involves creating robust, efficient, and secure software solutions to safeguard Generative AI applications and models from various threats such as data poisoning, model stealing, prompt injection, jailbreaks and adversarial attacks. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for implementing security measures for AI systems focusing on Firewall solutions by working closely with the data scientists to integrate security AI models, collaborate with other engineers and engineering teams to integrate AI Firewall solution into existing and new Cisco Security products. Your work will be instrumental in delivering a powerful and effective security solution to our customers.

What You Will Do

  • AI Firewall Integration: Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate AI Firewall solution into existing Cisco Security products.
  • AI Security: Security attitude to understand vulnerabilities of LLM and Generative AI apps to design and develop detection algorithms and models to mitigate threats.
  • Interface Design: Design and build effective interfaces for AI Firewall ensuring smooth communication and data exchange while adhering to security and performance requirements.
  • Instrumentation: Implement the right types of instrumentation to supervise and measure the performance, reliability, and security of AI Firewall.
  • Fixing: Debug and fix integration issues, identifying bottlenecks or errors and implementing solutions to optimize service interactions.
  • Scale and Performance Optimization: Work on scale and performance tuning and optimization of AI Firewall components to ensure efficient, responsive operation for handling large volumes of requests.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with AI engineers, data scientists, UI/UX and security experts for building a robust AI Firewall product and solution.

Basic Qualifications

  • BTech/ BS degree with 7+ years of experience (or) MS degree with 5+ years of experience as a software development engineer
  • Proven experience as a Backend Engineer with expertise in integrating and scaling complex services.
  • Strong understanding of detection engineering, security systems and operations and ability to build security solutions.
  • Solid foundations in data structures and algorithms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
  • Experience with instrumentation and monitoring tools for measuring service performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of AI service operations, including Generative AI, and the ability to design and build interfaces between them.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
