Senior Software Engineer (Firewall Datapath)

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Software Engineer working for the Multicloud Defense team, you’ll innovate, design, and develop security features and related infrastructure. The Multicloud Defense team delivers on the promise of cloud-first simplicity with robust cloud security. In this role, you will contribute to product design from conception to completion including troubleshooting, implementation, designing robust programming language to address product features with a high focus on high performance, quality, and execution.

You’ll be working with Cisco Multicloud Defense Dataplane local field sales teams, colleagues in product and design, and marketing to innovate new product features.

Who You Are

Basic Qualifications

(Must have skills and experience)

  • 5 + years of Firewall datapath experience
  • 5 + years of work experience with C/C++
  • 5 + years of experience with Unix/Linux development environment
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical field

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of experience with Golang
  • 1 + years of work experience with IDS/IPS (Snort), and WAF (Modsec)
  • 1 + years of work experience with DPDK, LKL
  • 2 + years of demonstrated experience in packet processing with multi-core/multi-thread programming
  • 1 + years of experience with TLS, Key Management and Network Security technologies
  • 2 + years of work experience with HTTP and experience with proxies
  • Proven experience with building highly scalable systems
  • Have an eye for clean architectural and code design
  • Adaptive in a varied working environment, and keen to learn new technologies, tools, and platforms

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
