Cisco Data Center Group is looking for an experienced signal integrity engineer with a strong background in high speed PCB design. The successful candidate will participate in the definition of high speed serdes interface (>10Gbps), DDR interface, ASIC Packaging, PCB technology and system interconnects. You will provide the technical analysis, modeling, and simulation to the board design or chip design to ensure that the system meets the signal integrity and power integrity requirements. Provide detailed design guidelines related to high-speed signals, reference clocks, power decoupling, etc. Provide solution to any SI/PI related issue. Validate and optimize the design through lab measurement and performance testing. Coordinate performance and compliance testing such as SI/PI Validation Testing, EMI Testing, Electrical Design Validation Testing, and Optical Design Validation Testing.
Who You'll Work With
Data Center BU is developing the Nexus 9500 line of data center and cloud switches that feature application awareness to make the network infrastructure flexible and agile for dynamic response to application needs and virtual machine workload mobility. DCBG also developed a 100/400G Ethernet transceiver designed to drastically lower the price of 100/400G optics to better compete with lower cost switches.
What You’ll do
The responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Lead or co-lead signal integrity work for high speed board
Design of high-speed SerDes interfaces including package and board.
Review package pin-out for high performance ASICs in the board
Perform I/O simulation for PCB interfaces and provide the PCB routing rule for CAD team.
High-speed Serdes test chip evaluation and interoperability testing
Analyze the power delivery network for critical high-speed interfaces on the system board.
Serdes tuning and link optimization on prototypes and system bring-up.
Skills and Qualifications:
Hands on experience on chip and system levels signal Integrity and power integrity analyses are a must.
Familiar with high-speed serial interfaces (SFI, XFI, KR, Fiber Channel, PCIe, CEI) channel design and signal integrity consideration
Transmission line theory and microwave engineering concepts such as Maxwell equations, S-parameter, etc.
Knowledge on ASIC stackup/construction, PCB board stackup/construction.
Familiar with simulation and modeling tools like Hspice, ADS, HFSS, PowerSI etc.
Familiar with lab equipment like Oscilloscopes, VNA, Spectrum Analyzer etc.
Strong written and verbal communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to be a self-starter, work independently and in teams
Education Requirements: MSEE with over 5 years of experience in signal integrity
