This is an excellent opportunity to join Cisco's fastest-growing product UCS in Cisco's Computing Systems Group for AI Server development. We are looking for an expert Senior Software Engineering Architect who strives in a dynamic start-up-like environment. You will be providing the technical vision as well as people leadership for an expert team working on next-generation datacenter Server Platforms and products that enable cloud/datacenter scale deployments.
What You’ll Do
The job involves working on Cisco UCS AI Server platform development activities. This team develops Software and Firmware for Cisco UCS AI platforms. These include the development of Server BMC (a.k.a Cisco Integrated Management Controller) Firmware, Software, tools, and utilities.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to Lead the technical charter and vision for Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) Firmware team.
Responsibilities include:
- A Senior Engineering Architect with vast experience in Critical Embedded systems/Firmware development. The candidate should build and deliver the technical charter/vision for the Server BMC team, aligning to greater organizational goals.
- Demonstrate a high degree of originality and innovation in defining product and project-level architecture.
- Be a hands-on technologist working across different architectures and environments.
- Work closely with Hardware Team for design, schematic review, hardware bring-up, and debug activities.
- Work closely with a group of architects and other stakeholders to define the holistic design.
- Influence the design of interfaces between products to ensure interoperability.
- Manage and Lead a team of Architects/Engineers who design and develop Firmware in a real-time Linux (or similar) OS environment for Cisco UCS server platforms.
- Be a bridge between Product Management and Developers by comprehending complex datacenter customer requirements and translating them to engineering features.
Who You Are
Required Experience and Skills:
- 15+ Years of total experience in Embedded/Firmware/ARM-Linux based products
- Excellent experience in Firmware, Device Driver, and Embedded/Real-time systems development.
- Good knowledge of x86 and ARM architectures.
- Strong Expertise in C and other programming languages expertise is a plus.
- A strong proponent of Design thinking and abreast of new architecture/design/development methodologies
- Patents/Disclosures holder.
- Excellent verbal and written skills and professional presentation.
Desired Experience and Skills
- Data Centre/Cloud platforms/Server/Storage chassis platform technologies. Experience in management controller firmware development (BMC) and IPMI/Redfish.
- Experiences in HW tools like JTAG debuggers, I2C analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and flash memory programmers
- Experience in Industry standard protocols like DDR, I3C, MIPI, PCIe/NVMe, CXL, and other Interconnect/Server technologies

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
