What You'll Do

Cisco is expanding its UCS Server portfolio with a new generation of servers designed for AI training, inferencing, and AI edge use cases. We are looking for passionate and skilled team members to join us on these exciting projects.

In this role, you will be part of the team responsible for developing and maintaining Operating System and Peripheral Support matrices for Cisco’s industry-leading UCS General Purpose and AI servers. You will have the opportunity to work hands-on with the latest advancements in server and storage technologies — including next-generation Intel and AMD processors, innovative GPUs such as Nvidia Blackwell and Hopper architectures, PCIe Gen 6 I/O adapters, and the newest storage solutions. Additionally, you will gain experience with Cisco Intersight, our cloud-based data center infrastructure management platform built on a modern microservices architecture.

Who You'll Work With?

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team driving innovation in data center orchestration, automation, and product development. You will work closely with teams across engineering, product management, and customer success to help shape impactful solutions.

We are seeking a hands-on engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, communicates effectively, takes ownership, and is committed to delivering customer value.

Who You Are?

You are a highly skilled engineer with deep technical expertise in data center and cloud-native technologies. You excel in fast-paced, startup-like environments and are motivated by the opportunity to drive meaningful business impact.

What distinguishes you is your passion for tackling sophisticated and unique technical challenges — not just to find solutions, but to innovate and push boundaries. You bring a strong product-oriented approach and thrive when collaborating within small, hard-working teams.

Minimum Qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced engineer with deep expertise in operating systems, data center infrastructure, and automation using Python. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in testing, deploying, maintaining, and fixing server and storage systems, while driving operational efficiencies through automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain the Operating System Support Matrix for Cisco UCS servers in collaboration with Product Management, ensuring alignment with OS vendors' roadmaps, features, and release timelines.
  • Plan, develop, and implement test cases to validate OS functionality (ESXi, Windows, Linux) across Cisco UCS platforms, performing in-depth failure analysis to pinpoint root causes in BIOS, drivers, hardware, or OS layers.
  • Configure, administer, and solve operating systems on UCS platforms, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Strong debugging skills in at least one operating system, such as Windows, ESXi, or Linux.
  • Design and implement Python-based automation solutions to streamline testing and workflows, enhancing efficiency and product quality.
  • Leverage knowledge of storage networking protocols (e.g., SCSI, Fibre Channel) and virtualization technologies to test system integrations.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams and external partners to solve issues and deliver solutions for seamless interoperability.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of data center infrastructure (servers, switches, storage arrays) to ensure high-quality, enterprise-grade standards and full test coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 8 to 12 years of proven experience in system testing, data center operations, OS issue debugging, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of operating system fundamentals, infrastructure management, and issue resolution methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with data center technologies, storage networking, and server hardware.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting, with experience in developing automation frameworks and tools.
