The impactful, hands-on Java Software Engineer will be committed to the practices required to design, implement and support critical customer-facing platforms requiring high uptime while driving continuous improvement and innovation.

You are a Backend Engineer who has a background in designing, implementing and maintaining fast-growing applications. You love working with innovative teams to build resilient, high-load and fault-tolerant services.


Your Role


  • Development of new business initiatives and the extension of existing ones

  • Take an active part in improvements and optimizations to the systems

  • Resolve technical problems, critical thinking on the development approach

  • Manage and optimize scalable distributed systems in the cloud

  • Be part of a cross-functional team with end-to-end responsibility for the result

  • Finding simple, sophisticated, powerful, and pragmatic solutions to complex problems

  • Work according to software engineering principles, with full test automation and continuous integration and delivery, and using immutable infrastructure-as-code


Your Profile


Minimum Qualifications


  • 8+ years of professional experience in backend development

  • Strong Java and SQL knowledge

  • Relational DB proficiency

  • Understanding basic principles and patterns of software engineering

  • Hands-on experience with microservice architecture

  • Experience with Spring framework (Boot, Web), JPA and Hibernate, REST, OAuth2

  • Experience in designing RESTful APIs

  • Enterprise-grade experience with CI/CD tools


Desired Skills


  • Foundation in Computer Science and algorithms

  • Experience in FFmpeg

  • Software development background in Python

  • Familiarity with deploying, administering, and monitoring GCP and AWS (S3, CloudFront, SQS)

  • Familiarity with usage of GitHub, Docker, Terraform, Helm Charts, and Jenkins for Infrastructure-as-Code

  • Ability to speak Ukrainian is a plus

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
