As a key part of the Cisco Italy Leadership team, you'll directly report to the Country Managing Director and lead the Public Sector Sales team. You will collaborate with local and international regional sales managers, Account teams, System Engineers, Sales Specialists, our Partner organization and other business support functions.
Your Impact

As the Public Sector Sales Director, you will lead the Italy Public Sector Sales team and play a key role in defining sales and channel strategies, guaranteeing sales execution, reinventing channel partnerships, and being a trusted partner to our customers on their Digital Transformation Journey. This role is exciting because you will drive growth and transformation, build a top-performing team, and influence Cisco's strategy in the Public Sector market in Italy.
Responsibilities
- Define the Sales strategy and plan of the Public Sector market in Italy while executing Cisco's strategy and meeting Cisco's goals.
- Guarantee a detailed and metrics’ driven plan to ensure the right “Correction of Errors” is implemented every quarter to improve the opportunities and mitigate the risks. Follow-up these Plans and metrics with both the internal teams and the partners (through QBRs) to guarantee accurate implementation.
- Build a driven and accountable environment based on planning, structured approach, metrics and analytics, follow-up, business outcomes & consultative approaches, proactivity and collaboration (internal team, international teams and partners).
- Be an integral part of the country business planning process within Cisco Italy leadership team on all aspects of running the business. Bring an analytical perspective that helps understand the past while building the future based on specific metrics that can be tracked.
- Collaborate and build partnerships within the Cisco ecosystem to drive the agreed strategy, have regular dialogue with local and regional teams to ensure consensus with the go-to-market and sales strategy overall.
- Implement agreed-upon sales models and coverage strategies across multiple touchpoints and different routes to market. Be an active voice to provide feedback to the global teams. Become an international authority on both areas, recognized by excellence in performing and transforming
- Own the Public Sector sales quota for Italy and key strategic objectives.
- Be responsible for building short, medium and long-term plans for our Public Sector coverage model based on business analysis, research and a strong understanding of business and technology trends.
- Be responsible for sales planning and accurate forecasting.
- Embrace people leadership, team development and strong ethical behavior leading by example.
- Build and maintain a positive work environment, focused on “Always Be Better” while creating trust and respect among your team and extended team resources ecosystem. Be a collaborative member of the management team.
- Be passionate about technology and lead by example through learning our technology and becoming a strong ambassador (internally, externally and in social media)
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of Sales Experience in business verticals like Public Sector, Enterprise, Commercial or Channel.
- 3+ years of Sales Management and People Management experience (including engagement, motivation, development and performance activities)
- Deep analytical skills, structured approach and Planning Methods. Focus on the detail, follow up and excellence in execution.
- Proven sales coverage of different customer segments, directly and indirectly.
- Native Italian language skills and proficiency in English both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA degree - MBA or graduate degree.
- Experience influencing, planning, and using EU Stimulus funds at a country level.
- Specific examples of winning digital strategic projects with solution selling.
- Strong understanding of the Italian technology industry.
- Preferably if coming from a Company with Recurring Offers and Software selling models.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.
Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
