Acacia Communications, a leader in disruptive optical and coherent technology, is looking for a PIC Test Engineer to join the PIC design/test team, and support the R&D of advanced photonic integrated devices and related subsystems. A general knowledge of photonics, including passive and active components is required. Strong experience with optical (fiber coupling) and electrical (DC and RF) probing, and with lab setup, instrument control, data analysis, and programming skills (matlab, python, etc.) are required.
Key Essential Functions:
Design and construct lab setup for PIC wafer and die level optical-electrical measurements
Work with design team to scope out and procure required equipment required for test and automation
Work with technician on sample preparation for testing
Maintain and organize test setups, equipment and material inventories.
Program to control the setups/equipment and collect data automatically using languages such as Python/Matlab/Labview/C#
Maintain and improve the existing testing software and codes
Develop new scripts/software to meet new requirements from design team
Perform hands-on testing of photonic devices and subsystems, heavily involving fiber-chip coupling and electrical probing
Analyze and document device data and statistics. Organize and maintain data preferably using database. Visualize and report test results.
Interact with and support design team for the device evaluation and diagnosis
Essential Qualifications, Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field
Understanding of optics and photonics
Experience in lab setup and testing
Proficient in programming for testing and data analysis
Experience with silicon photonics device testing.
Experience with wafer level testing
