Job Description:

You will be responsible for optical performance testing of various optoelectronic package assemblies for lasers, VSCELs, and transceiver modules for a development group in Cisco’s Silicon Photonics technology.

 

Responsibilities:

-- Contribute to the design of new innovative products using Cisco Silicon Photonics Technology.

-- Evaluate specifications and establish optimum test method & required equipment to complete optical & electrical performance characterization for laser & VCSEL assemblies

-- Conduct experiments to determine optical subassembly performance and interaction with Cisco silicon photonics.

-- Build hardware set-up and assist in software development to provide automated characterization of optical devices in a development lab.

-- Analyze and document data generated to communicate results to a broad interdisciplinary design team. 

-- Assist in database structuring to manage characterization data.

-- Some travel may be required. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

-- BS or MS in physics, electrical, or mechanical engineering.

-- 3+ years of relevant experience in testing of optical devices for laser/VCSEL based fiber systems.

--Experience with equipment used in electro-optic testing such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, supplies, polarimeter, TECs (Thermo-Electric Coolers)& controllers. Some knowledge of stage motion control is beneficial but not required.

 

-- Experience handling single mode, multimode, and PM fiber and their associated connectors. 

-- Familiar with statistical process control methods to maintain test capability.

-- Software: Familiar with .NET platform, Sequel data base & writing queries, JMP data analysis

-- Good planning and organizational skills

-- Team player with excellent verbal & written communications skills including the ability to work effectively across teams at multiple international sites.
