About the team

The Global Public Affairs team tells the stories that connect Cisco with the billions of people who rely on us to power, secure, and collaborate on the internet every day. Our mission is to show the value of Cisco to the policymakers, government leaders, communities, NGOs, and businesses we serve around the world. As part of the Global Communications team, we come up with creative ways to show how Cisco’s technology innovation and leadership are powering a more inclusive future, advancing society, and transforming governments and the public sector.

What You'll Do

Lead the PR and communications efforts for Cisco’s public policy, government affairs, CSR, and public sector activities across Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Russia (EMEAR). You will develop innovative strategies and execute them in partnership with a diverse set of Cisco’s most senior executives as well as in-country PR teammates. Together, you will develop and execute plans to engage media across the region, develop internal & external messaging, draft executive blogs/releases/social posts, and engage with third-party organizations to amplify Cisco’s messages.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage Cisco’s ongoing communication around major public policy, political, and social issues within the EU and in-country that impact our customers, partners, or communities
  • Create original and compelling content for internal and external stakeholders that drives awareness for Cisco’s positions on 5G, cybersecurity, remote work, digital government, public sector, networking/telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and the future of the workforce
  • Develop and amplify stories that articulate the value Cisco brings to governments,
  • Monitor and proactively develop responses to political developments in the European Commission and across the broader EMEAR region.

Who You’ll Work With

We are a highly-matrixed global team partnering with leaders from Cisco’s CEO office, EMEAR Government Affairs, People & Communities, Corporate Affairs, Legal, and the Security & Trust Organization. You will also be an embedded partner to the EMEAR communications team.

Who You Are

You have a strong understanding of how public policy, technology, reputation, and storytelling drive a business forward during times of uncertainty. Working with a diverse set of stakeholders, you can take complex issues and craft newsworthy stories that drive engagement and interest in Cisco initiatives. You will be a true team player that is proactive, comfortable in a fast-paced and highly-collaborative environment, and can provide leadership and execution in ambiguous situations.

You are a self-starter with strong project management, critical thinking and influencing skills. You have the ability to connect the dots across issues and initiatives to deliver the right result for Cisco.

We Are Cisco

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference. Here’s how we do it.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re “old” (30 years strong!) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. An AI/Machine Learning company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do – you can’t put us in a box!

But “Digital Transformation” is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, we give our egos a break and we give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, we take bold steps, and we take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a commitment to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool.
