Have you ever had a poor customer experience and thought of a million ways in which it could be improved? Have you ever empathized with those whose job it is to deliver customer experience and imagined how, if properly empowered and motivated, the overall service delivery experience could be better? If so, we want to talk.

We are passionate about delivering amazing experiences to both end-customers and employees. We believe software can truly change the world and how it gives and receives service and it is our mission to be the leader in this space. To enable this vision, we are looking for a seasoned software development manager to join our growing organization.

We are looking for a results-oriented leader to lead and manage a diverse team of smart engineers and own the Routing and Queueing platform of the Webex Contact Center solution.

What You’ll Be Doing

Defining, evolving and communicating the team’s vision, mission, and strategy across Webex Contact Center Business Unit and outside.

Collaborating with Product Managers, Architects and Technical leaders to build a roadmap for your team and growing the team to execute on that roadmap.

Executing on team's goals in a timely and efficient manner.

Implement effective engineering processes and policies.

Delivering high-quality, high-value software by adhering to security and quality standards as part of development process.

Defining metrics and managing them for continuous improvement.

Running and operating what you build with high availability and high resiliency.

Recruit, retain and adjust to keep your team at the top of their game.

Mentor, coach and create a high-performing team with a strong bias for action.

Represent Webex engineering and management in external events.

Who You’ll Work With

You will be partnering with Product Management as equal shareholders of product ownership.

You will work with Architects and Engineers at all levels inside and outside of your immediate teams; managing up, down, across, diagonally, inside and out – whatever it takes to deliver customer value.

You will have the privilege to work with members of the Sales, Customer Success, Support, and Marketing areas of the business unit. It will not be uncommon for you to meet with and present to cherished Partners and Customers.

You will engage with the broader community inside and outside Cisco. You will constantly look for ways to build relationships and partnerships that help you recruit and optimize your ability to deliver value.

How You’ll Succeed

By creating a culture of safety that enable your team and peers to feel empowered in making calculated risks and innovate without fear of failure or retribution.

By championing accountability through clear objectives and measures of success that are continuously reviewed, adapted, and celebrated.

Through the consistent and reliable delivery of high-quality, wow-inducing software.

By managing your team capacity intelligently so that customer value can be delivered rapidly while continually reducing the long-term technical debt.

By nurturing the talent in your teams with targeted growth opportunities and challenges.

Who You Are

You are a Software Engineer by training or profession.

You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and work experience.

You have at least three years of experience as an Engineering Manager working in a geographically distributed team and overall 12+ yearsof Industry experience

You have architected low-latency and high-throughput distributed applications and have the scars to show for it.

You have hands-on experience in real-time stream processing like Apache Kafka.

You are excited to explain complex technical concepts and share your knowledge with diverse audiences both internally and externally.

You have seen a lot of architectures and designs. You can anticipate future technical needs for the product and craft plans to realize them.

You are experienced in building roadmaps and can develop a long-term team vision in partnership with Product Management and other engineering teams on the Webex Contact Center Platform.

You get things done and never give up. You are driven and biased towards execution and delivery – taking on what needs to be done and owning it through to the end and beyond. You lead by example with your tenacity and extreme ownership ethic.

You are opinionated about development methodologies and what works and what doesn’t. You are biased towards Lean and Agile principles and practices and ultimately drive towards business outcomes over output.

You love helping engineers develop new skills and advance in their careers. You don’t shy away from performance conversations. You understand the importance of objective feedback for career growth, and have a track record of having practiced it successfully.
