Networking Platform

Cisco Networking is an industry leader providing intelligent network solutions for organizations to securely connect users, devices, applications, and workloads everywhere.  We empower organizations everywhere – from local libraries to global hotels – to focus on their mission and have technology that simply works. Cisco has been named #1 Best Company to Work For in the U.S. by Fortune in 2023!

What We Are Looking For

The Licensing team is on a mission to radically simplify license management across the entire Networking portfolio so it better aligns with customer outcomes. As a Design Lead, you’ll apply a range of skills including workshop facilitation, UI design and concept visualization to drive a user-centered approach. As a partner to Product and Engineering leads, you’ll bring clarity through strong visual storytelling that advises strategy and aligns internal partners.

In this role, you will develop deep domain knowledge, product expertise, and understand complex customer use cases. You'll set a vision based on customer needs and collaborate with cross-functional teams to build iteratively. Your passion for collaboration and design thinking will guide you in creating innovative solutions.

Our team's primary focus is on software, but we also find opportunities to collaborate with teams across the organization and think about how to improve the entire customer journey. Cisco Networking believes the quality of our products is dependent on the quality of our teams. We place a high value on nurturing the growth and development of everyone on our team. We give and get feedback early and often, share what we know, and learn from each other.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the entire customer journey from order to renewal, including internal processes and systems that drive the experience.

  • Craft solutions to minimize daily licensing concerns, identify key issues, conduct research, prototype, and create high-fidelity visuals that address complicated problems with simplified interactions and visual designs that enhance the Cisco brand.

  • Use lean UX methodologies for early discovery, inform delivery roadmaps, and lead a team to bring designs to life, balancing immediate progress with long-term goals.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional matrixed teams, build trust, involve them in research, and advocate for informed user-centered product enhancements that translate business needs into clear customer-focused solutions.

  • Have sight on the impact of your work on other teams, identify overlaps, and drive consistency and simplicity across the customer journey.

  • Facilitate workshops, sketching, and prototyping sessions; create documentation and templates for others to use.

  • Mentor and provide direction to other designers, support planning, navigate the organization, and ensure clarity on execution timelines.

You're an ideal candidate if you have:

  • 12+ years of experience designing and delivering complex enterprise or consumer products with cross-functional teams from strategy to delivery.

  • Portfolio showcasing repeated history of simplified customer journeys, strong storytelling, visual design skills, a highly polished level of craft and examples of research-driven iterative releases.

  • Knowledge of the networking domain or related product field is a plus.

  • Experience aligning teams around customer-centered design using UX methodologies and tools, and influencing adoption.

  • Ability to work from high-level strategy to detailed page designs.

  • Simplified complex problems and workflows.

  • Led and mentored junior UX designers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive and innovative design culture.

Message to applicants applying to work in the U.S. and/or Canada:

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. The recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
