Head of Demand Generation, Cisco Developer

Job Description



Cisco has embarked on a strategic journey to reach a net new audience of software developers and grow audience and engagement with its existing audience of infrastructure engineers motivated to adopt DevOps practices. 


The Head of Developer Demand Generation is a new role and a key leadership position on the Developer Marketing team. This is an opportunity to develop strategic demand generation marketing plans and campaigns that increase Cisco Developer brand and program awareness and drive engagement on Cisco Developer owned properties including, but not limited to; website, events, community, and deep learning content (sandboxes, learning labs, etc). The ideal candidate will have proven success collaborating across teams to build and execute unified demand generation plans. 



      Develop and execute a comprehensive demand generation strategy for Cisco Developer marketing campaigns and activities, which include targeting strategies for key audiences (software developers, site reliability engineers/devops, and infrastructure engineers), personas, market segments and partners as appropriate. 

      Build multi-channel inbound and outbound campaigns and determine the tactical mix between email, digital advertising, SEO, webinars, and social.

      Build, oversee, and report on marketing tools, automation, and measurement of results.

      Establish, measure, and report on target KPIs and budgets for Cisco Developer demand generation programs and campaigns to ensure spend is allocated to the highest-performing tactics delivering the best ROI.

      Continuously improve campaign strategies by collaborating with functions with Developer Relations, Corporate Growth, PLG and various Product Marketing teams to identify opportunities to optimize our efforts. 

      Establish and align with corporate growth and PLG on lead flow, data hygiene, lead scoring, and nurture models that meet best practices and outperform benchmarks.

      Drive our event marketing campaigns; assessing the right channels and tactics for acquisition and nurture. 

      Oversee marketing ops on key metrics, including marketing performance measurement, budgeting, strategic planning, process definition, and marketing systems and data.

      Build and own our testing and experimentation strategy: Conduct A/B tests across channels to shift us towards an always learning and optimizing way of working. 

      Define and manage program budgets for demand generation and manage outsourced agencies. 




      12+ years of marketing experience, 7+ specific to demand generation

      5+ years of experience supporting and driving demand gen for a SaaS company

      Demonstrated success owning the strategy, framework, development and execution for global, multichannel demand generation campaigns.

      Strong leadership skills, proven ability to build, motivate, and lead team to achieve results

      Roll up your sleeves core contributor on the team alongside being a strong coach and leader. Proven success in launching and successfully running demand gen marketing programs for B2B (preferably developer) SaaS companies

      Experience with Marketo/Adobe and other Marketing tech to generate, capture, nurture, track and report on leads, conversions, and ROI

      Experience in the Salesforce ecosystem and Tableau

      Strong analytical and quantitative skills – must have the ability to analyze and derive meaning from data which you will then translate into actionable changes

      Excellent writing, communication, time management, and project management skills

      Passionate about technology – able to dive in and use innovative, next generation platforms and tactics to win

      Experience with budgeting, media planning, sponsorships, and SEO/SEM
