Hardware Engineer: Optical Interconnect Products

What You'll Do:

You will be responsible for testing and optimize settings of innovative transceiver and systems, mainly focusing on the electrical domain, to validate and stretch the performance of those design and seeing them productized into the next generation of industry leading technologies for Cisco Systems.

 Minimum Qualifications:

 - University degree (Telecommunication/Electronic/Optoelectronic engineering)

- At least 6 years of experience in hardware development and testing.

- Deep knowledge of high-speed parameters and testing methodologies (probing, VNA, scopes).
- Ability to understand sub-assemblies and cards HW schematics and design.

- Knowledge of main modulation format and signal theory.

- Familiarity with relevant standards (OIF, IEEE 802.3) for both optical PMD and electrical interfaces (C2C, C2M).

- Experience with automation software such as Python and LabVIEW.

- Need a team player, proactive person taking responsibilities and collaborate to address issues.

- Good English - ability to understand/produce technical documentation in English language.

- Cisco experience is a plus.

Responsibilities:
- Test and assessment of 100G PAM4 components, modules and electro-optical units to make sure they meet the product specifications for quality and performance against related standards or internal criteria.

- Use equipment for high-speed electro-optical testing, like sampling and real-time scopes, VNA, electrical spectrum analyzers, traffic generators and analyzer, etcetera.

- Develop automatic SW routines for test and debug and FW validation.

- Use source debuggers and development environments.
- Document test results through dedicated presentations and reports.
- Write code to create single-threaded, multi-threaded applications and user interface for Engineering products validation.

Who You'll Work With:

You will work closely with the transceiver industries most talented HW and FW Engineering (TMG), in a cross-functional environment including ASIC design, Program Management and Operations.
