Role overview

The Financial Controller position covers the ownership and accountability for the Record to Report (R2R) figures reported in country both for local GAAP and US GAAP. The Controller is expected to keep the Company compliant with all local finance and accounting statutes. The role is to provide accounting oversight and is supported by outsourced operations. This position will have financial control for Cisco entities in Saudi Arabia. A successful Controller will create and retain excellent working relationships with the other Finance functions such as Tax, Treasury, Sales and Service Finance and where appropriate to the Business leaders, as well as maintain and foster relationships with third party professional firms, for example external auditors.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the Group Accounting and Reporting Organization for the Country
  • Ownership and Accountability for the R2R figures reported in the Cisco legal entities (ensuring that effective R2R delivery is performed in the country, including an overall management of close and reporting requirements in line with Cisco policies)
  • Escalation point of contact for the country at an entity level, providing rapid resolution or escalation of all Global Accounting and Reporting (GAR) critical issues impacting their business customers. Ensuring adequate and timely root cause analysis to understand problem drivers and implementation of necessary corrections and/or changes
  • Accountability for the Statutory / Tax compliance commitment in the country for three entities
  • Accountability for the Cisco internal audits and controls (ICS, GRC, SOX)
  • Interactions with the close consolidation team to ensure the accuracy on the close of their entities
  • All other tasks which require physical presence in the country eg. releasing bank payments, managing storage of physical documents, etc.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Providing oversight and coordination of the Dispute Resolution process between the affected parties
  • Supervising and coordinating in conjunction with the outsourced accounting team to ensure accuracy in the accounting processes and figures
  • Closely collaborating with the peer community
  • Supervising external audits and giving final sign-off to statutory accounts and financial statements
  • Being the point of contact for physical visits of authorities on behalf of GAR
  • Being responsible for conducting country review of balance sheet with the Management team
  • With cross-financial business partners, proactively contributing to the execution of corporate wide finance initiatives within the country
  • Being the main point of contact for the FP&A Team with regard to Actual and forecast comparisons where needed

Continuous Improvement

  • Responsibility for ensuring Cisco policies are updated in response to changing environment and legislation
  • Review and participation as appropriate in substantial changes to the existing model
  • Identifying innovation, scalability opportunities within the country
  • Ensuring cross-region opportunities are identified and cross-region areas for improvement are addressed
  • Taking lead on various projects on processes and accounting requirements as set by Senior Management Team

Minimum Qualifications

  • A recognized accounting qualification
  • 8+ years of relevant working experience (ideally gained in an international-oriented & cross-functional environment)
  • Strong accounting background and a strong working knowledge of US GAAP, local Saudi regulations and IFRS, Saudi Local Content Score requirements
  • Strong Understanding of Financial regulations as it pertains to books and Records
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, complete fluency in Arabic
  • Experience in dealing with local Authorities

  • MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Hyperion knowledge (advantageous)

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter.  Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
