What You'll Do

Cisco seeks an Executive Administrative Professional to provide support for the Senior Vice President and Chief Government Strategy Officer, as well as his organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Schedule Management: Manage SVP's calendar and daily schedule, including prioritizing conflicting meeting requests, tracking action items and commitments, and following up to ensure completion. This involves coordination with the Office of the CEO and members of the Executive Leadership Team, as well as the entire Government Affairs organization,
  • Travel and Expense Management: Make all global travel arrangements for an SVP who travels significantly and manage associated expenses. Involves working closely with team members to prepare briefing materials for international trips, including confirming event details and coordinating travel logistics.
  • Meeting and Event Coordination: Plan and organize meetings for SVP and his team, including staff meetings and engagements with government officials. Responsible for all logistics – including the agenda, location, catering, and technology requirements – and disseminating action items post-meeting. Collaborate with relevant staff members to ensure SVP is prepared for all speaking engagements and other events.
  • Budget Administration: Handle invoice processing for the Government Affairs organization at large, ensuring the department adheres to its budget and corporate procurement policies. This is a significant portion of the role. It entails playing a key role on the finance team and developing a deep knowledge of company policies and practices.
  • Correspondence/Approvals: Assist with SVP’s communications and approvals, including answering questions, referring matters, following up, determining when executive action is required, taking initiative to resolve issues, and supplying a recommendation where appropriate.
  • Special Projects: Provide support to SVP and his Senior Leadership Team as needed, which may include researching issues, analyzing problems, compiling data, and preparing reports.
  • Confidentiality: Professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential matters and materials.
  • Participate in a cross-functional Executive Assistant network, helping to lead a global community of administrators and mentor new members.

The expectations and responsibilities of this role are beyond those of a traditional executive administrative role, and daily tasks are carried out at a higher level of complexity. Being self-motivated and proactive around needs of the SVP and his organization is essential.

Government Affairs is a global corporate function led by the SVP and Chief Government Strategy Officer. The team is comprised of government and public policy experts in more than a dozen countries who represent Cisco to governments worldwide. They have extensive experience in and out of government and are leaders in the industry.

Government Affairs works to build relationships with key government leaders, educate policymakers and regulators about Cisco and the technology industry, and advocate public policy positions consistent with Cisco’s mission to power an inclusive future for all.

During your career, you have demonstrated the following abilities:

  • Providing exceptional operational support to an executive and their organization at large
  • Juggling multiple priorities and handling sudden, unplanned changes with composure
  • Maintaining a high degree of responsiveness to executives and their team members
  • Comfort working closely with a Senior Leadership Team, including executives
  • Taking initiative and exercising wisdom when there is limited direction and ambiguity
  • Ability to think creatively and challenge “the way we’ve always done it”

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • At least eight years’ experience in the administrative environment, with a minimum of four years working at the executive level
  • Experience providing operational support to an organization, particularly in relation to financial operations
  • Advanced calendar management experience, as well as meeting and travel coordination
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of Executive/Senior staff and clients.
  • Expert level knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • BA/BS preferred; experience in government affairs and the technology industry is a plus

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
