Our guiding principles are rooted in our four core values: 'care deeply,' 'everybody in,' 'simplify everything,' and 'be brave.' These pillars have propelled us to the forefront of cloud-managed IT leadership and have played a pivotal role in shaping a more inclusive future for all.

The modern world runs on the Internet, and the Internet cannot exist without its underlying infrastructure. Cisco Meraki makes setting up, managing, and maintaining that infrastructure easier than it has ever been before. Meraki enables connectivity everywhere from neighborhood cafes to world-class universities to global hospitality groups operating thousands of sites. And Meraki's hardware organization is responsible for building the physical devices that get people online.

Cisco Meraki is looking for a Data Engineer to join Cisco Wireless & Meraki Hardware’s JDM(Joint Development Manufacturing) Data Science Team. As a Data Engineer, you will be a key partner in Meraki’s hardware analytics ecosystem and at the center of our data. You will own the data tables and ETL pipelines that power key operations and decisions for hardware engineering & supply chain teams. To do so, you’ll work directly with manufacturers we partner with to build and expand on data pipelines that allow for the transfer of vital data between companies.

As part of this role, you will develop relationships across teams including hardware development, quality, manufacturing, supply chain and our manufacturing partners. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, an analytical mindset, excellent organizational skills, and a bias to action. You don't wait for change - you embody the change you want to see in the world!

Cisco Meraki believes that the quality of our product is dependent on the quality of our employees. We place a high value on nurturing the growth and development of everyone on our team. We foster an open and supportive workplace where everybody is given the opportunity to succeed.

EXAMPLE PROJECTS OF A DATA ENGINEER:

  • A new data error has appeared in our data and caused the daily pipeline run to fail. Identify and resolve the issue, and then build a test to check for similar issues going forward. What can be done to prevent this issue from happening again?

  • A manufacturing partner is opening up a new factory site. Work with the team at the partner company to expand our pipeline to add data from this new site to our systems.

  • A supply chain manager requested some data related to the datasets you own. Write SQL queries or use existing self-serve tools to provide the vital data promptly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years experience with SQL, Python & Git

  • 1+ years experience with Linux, Shell & Cloud Architecture (preferably AWS)

  • Experience in developing & maintaining complex Data Warehouse & pipelines

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate sophisticated concepts to a variety of audiences

  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin for communicating with external partners

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Experience in the hardware development industry or working with JDM/CM partners

  • 1+ years experience with web development

  • Proven experience with Apache Kafka & data streaming to Data Warehouse (preferably Snowflake)
