What You'll Do

The Technical Solution Architect is a leader and subject matter expert within the technical community.  As the prime technical engagement point with client stakeholders, you will be responsible for engaging with customers and partners and, through identification of pain points, challenges, and problems, architecting a Cisco focused security solution. 

With strong commercial awareness, translating technical solutions into business language to solve business problems is second nature to you; you will help customers understand the value they can derive from Cisco solutions, and how we can help them be more secure and resilient. 

You should have expertise around some of the following, as well as a solid background in the security domain generally.

    • Network Security (including NGFW/NGIPS)
    • Cloud security (Email, Web, Anti-Spam, CASB, Secure Internet Gateway, DLP)
    • Network Visibility and Enforcement and Analytics
    • Identity Services Engine and VPN
    • Endpoint (including endpoint protection, endpoint analytics and EDR)
    • XDR, SOAR and Response Technologies (including Automation and Orchestration)

Help position Cisco as a strong option in prevailing market conditions and technology shifts, such as SASE and ZTNA. 

You should be able to explain how technical solutions can be applied to solve business problems, and are able to speak the languages of business and technical decision makers alike.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

Support the activities of the Global Security Sales Organisation (GSSO) and general Sales team through direct support of identified customer opportunities, Partner identification and development.

Promote the technical value and benefits of Cisco Security solutions.

Encourage partners to utilise Cisco technology.

Work closely with aligned sales team members to develop account targeted strategies and activities working to drive pipeline development and close business to achieve committed numbers. 

Build trusted technical advisor relationships with Customers and leaders of various partner groups, linking the Cisco vision to relevant business strategies. Present and demonstrate technical solutions in a business meaningful way to all levels of the customer and Partner organisation.

Use Cisco defined processes and tools such as SFDC to navigate through the sales cycle, implementing relevant Cisco enablement programs and tools to drive Security sales opportunities.

Participate in marketing activities and events, supporting a drive to develop Cisco’s message, position and perception in the market with customers and partners. 

Solution and Architectural Selling

You'll explain the elements and dynamics of the Cisco Security solutions and architecture and how they're interconnected with all parts of our portfolio, ensuring that the features and benefits of Cisco technology are understood and valued by Customers.

Help partner technical sales teams design and build creative architectural solutions that drive strategic objectives and help differentiate partner offerings.

You ensure the detailed features, functionality and architectural impact of our technology in your designs and proposals are understood, valued and communicated.

Build a working knowledge of technology shifts that impact security and other architectures. For example the role of Software Defined Networking and Data Centre Architectures.

Supporting the Business

Be a recognized leader within the technical community, becoming a go-to person with expertise to support the broader team, partners and more junior staff members.

Experience of coaching and mentoring junior team members is beneficial.

Engage with broader organizational teams to support the development of security knowledge and understanding with the broader business.

Comfortable as a thought leader, able to articulate an opinion and drive engagement. 

Capable of supporting public speaking, event speaking and press engagements.

Who you are

University degree in a technical subject or equivalent desirable

You have at least 5 years experience of working with networking or data centre infrastructure and some exposure to Cyber security products and issues

You possess at least 3 years of pre-sales SE experience

Some form of in depth experience such as application or infrastructure architecture, security operations or compliance auditing

Cisco technical certification desirable (e.g. CCNP, CCNP-Security, CCIE)

DevOps/SecDevOps knowledge & experience beneficial

Knowledge and experience of Cisco toolsets desirable.
