Meet the Team

You'll be part of the Component Quality & Technology (CQT) within the Global Supplier Management (GSM) organization. CQT is a key hub of technical innovation in Cisco. Members of the organization focus on evaluating and developing new technologies to enable sustained product differentiation. You will be a part of a diverse team that seamlessly blends different levels of expertise in several areas of semiconductor and systems design combining traditional knowledge with groundbreaking data analytics techniques to solve increasingly sophisticated problems. You will regularly engage with Cisco Business Units as your partners and customers, Suppliers of the commodity space you are managing and extended Supply Chain functions including Global Supply Management, Product Operations and Global Manufacturing Organization.

Your Impact

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in electromechanical product design who is eager to become an expert in the multidisciplinary aspects of bringing next generation interconnect designs from concept to production. The ideal candidate should be passionate about problem-solving and continuous improvement, with a commitment to product quality, and capable of delivering advanced high-speed interconnect solutions for Cisco products. They must possess a "can do" demeanor, independent thinking, and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues across all leadership levels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Practical experience and understanding of interconnect design and system-level integration are essential for developing and optimizing connectivity pathways in electronic systems.

In this role, you will leverage your design expertise to develop sophisticated interconnect architectures that optimize signal integrity, reliability, and overall system performance that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with suppliers to predict and validate the behavior of interconnects, addressing potential issues from concept through NPI phases. Your deep understanding of materials and fabrication processes will ensure designs are technically sound, reliable, and cost-effective. Additionally, you will lead multi-functional teams, handle vendor relationships, and communicate complex ideas effectively, driving continuous improvement and excellence throughout the product lifecycle.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSME/BSEE or equivalent with 12+ years experience bringing new products to market.
  • 10+ years experience working with high-speed interconnect technologies at the application and component level including fundamentals of associated PCB attach technologies.
  • Experience with mechanical design principles, including tolerance analysis, fabrication methods, materials, validation testing, and familiarity with SI principles.
  • Leadership experience in large cross-functional programs, including the development of proposals and schedules.
  • Experience creating, presenting, and communicating technical topics effectively to senior-level stakeholders, such as Sr. Directors and VPs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with mechanical system design of networking equipment is preferred.
  • Experienced in leading supplier relationships and implementing thorough quality control measures to ensure product standards and reliability are consistently met is preferred.
  • Familiarity with key areas of the interconnect commodity space including Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Signal Integrity, Test, Failure Analysis, and PCB/PCBA fabrication and assembly techniques.
  • Competency in SPC, FMEA, 8D/Corrective Action, Cause and Effect Analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), and risk assessment.
  • Experience with high speed Twinax cable and associated applications is a plus.

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter.  Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
