About The Role

Meraki’s Product Management team is seeking a driven Technical Marketing Engineer to join the Assurance product team. Our customers build networks to run their businesses, and their networks are the lifeblood of collaborative working environments. For network teams, failure is not an option, but the size and complexity present daily challenges. Meraki Assurance helps our customers meet these challenges by deeply understanding their network.

Cisco Meraki has changed the way the industry thinks about networking, and you will be the public face of the team defining how Meraki will stay at the forefront of networking trends. In this role, you will collaborate with forward-thinking engineers, designers, and technology partners to build the future of Meraki. You will develop broad technical knowledge across the entire Cisco networking product line, deeply understand how to deliver quality network experience, deliver high-impact presentations, and have a passion to continuously improve the entire product line by bringing data-driven analytics to networking.

As a critical member of the product team, your responsibilities include:

Technical Product Strategy

  • Serve as the go-to technical guide for the internal teams including engineering and product. Keep the entire team informed of industry trends and understand the market landscape
  • Work with product managers and TMEs across the Cisco networking team to investigate feature and platform innovations that help customers build the networks of tomorrow
  • Demonstrate creative ways of discovering value in the Meraki data set by evaluating and proposing new analytical tools
  • Build & design high-quality user documentation, case studies, and presentations that optimally communicate the benefits and differentiators of Assurance solutions
  • Constantly keep in mind enable creative and timely execution of the most important projects for the business

Customers, Field Sales, and Partners

  • Maintain a strong customer focus, bringing a network operations perspective, sharing your ideas about how to have the largest impact for our customers
  • Showcase our technology, architecture, and approach through presentations and demonstrations, and share our vision with customers, prospects, and customer-facing teams throughout Cisco
  • Support key customer engagements by creating lab experiments and delivering presentations

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of deep understanding of networking protocols, products & solutions, including wireless, switching and routing
  • 2+ years of product management, technical product management (TPM) or similar type of technical or engineering experience with SaaS products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on experience with networking lab devices and technology
  • Always having a keen eye towards competitive landscape and build products that are strong in the market
  • Dedication to storytelling that resonates with a broad variety of audiences and illustrates key product value propositions; comfortable presenting to groups of all sizes and seniority levels
  • Proven builder of relationships with customers across the spectrum of size and complexity, with the ability to quickly assemble research to inform product decisions
  • Comfortable working with, and building, a diverse and inclusive team
  • Great collaborator and get work done attitude
  • A passion for building great user experiences. You'd rather see one feature done amazingly well then ten mediocre features.
  • A desire to not just understand how technical features work, but understand the rationale of product design choices and the ability to debate them with other experts
  • Being the resident "mad scientist" who is always running an experiment about something
  • When somebody asks you a question, you can explain exactly why you're right, because you always know the original sources to get the answer

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter.  Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
