About The Role
As an AI leader / architect, you will be guiding the ThousandEyes engineering business and senior management on number of technical issues related to our AI/ML roadmap. You will lead industry boards and/or councils as a sought-out expert who influences, develops and defines next-generation technologies with favorable business impact for Cisco's broad product portfolio. The size, diversity, and richness of our data are simply unmatched. The Internet is changing fast, and we are too. This role will lead the team that drives an effective engineering ecosystem strategy for Cisco across multiple strategic domains including standards, open-source, research, and intellectual property from an AI standpoint.
What You’ll Do
You will guide and influence a team of AI engineers in designing, implementing and maintaining large-scale AI/ML pipelines including tuning and evaluating LLMs. You will lead the team in building evaluation frameworks and metrics while evaluating traditional and transformer-based models and LLMs. You will also be responsible for influencing and guiding data collection design, data engineering, feature engineering.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience using AI/ML technologies to influence product direction, user experiences, and ML/LLM lifecycle infrastructures. You will have experience in translating ambiguous product problems and challenges into clear AI/ML-based solutions.
- Demonstrable experience with the entire lifecycle of machine learning, from conceptualization and development to deployment and continual refinement.
- Proficient in Python, in transforming abstract ML concepts into robust, efficient, and scalable solutions.
- Fluent in some of these machine learning frameworks such as SKLearn, XGBoost, PyTorch, or Tensorflow, and can leverage code as a strategic tool to shape innovative solutions.
- Bachelor’s +17 years or Master’s +14 years or PhD +10 years or an equivalent direct industry experience in building and evaluating ML models and delivering large-scale ML products.
Preferred Qualifications
- As a strategic leader, you'll excel in making critical technical decisions, shaping roadmaps and visions that drive the success of transformative machine learning projects in application to the Network Assurance Roadmap.
- PhD Preferred.
- Proficient in crafting machine learning models, your expertise spans neural networks including transformer models, Large Language Models, decision trees, and other traditional machine learning models, translating conceptual ideas into actual solutions.
- Adept at guiding teams through the orchestration of large, high-impact projects, you will consistently deliver successful outcomes.
- You'll bring forth a successful track record of navigating the complexities of large-scale production environments, ensuring the seamless integration of machine learning models into internet-scale services.
- Proficient in harmonizing the efforts of cross-functional teams, including researchers, data scientists, and machine learning infrastructure teams, they create synergy between business goals and technology innovation.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
