What You'll Do

The main role Requirements & Competencies are the following:

  • Category, supplier, and stakeholder management supporting the Contingent Workforce & Services category for Engineering group within Cisco’s Global Procurement Services
  • Performs whole portions of or more sophisticated tasks related to research and analysis required to support the development of category strategies and savings plans
  • May assist in strategic planning and organization of department and on developing policy and procedures
  • May begin to advise work related to category strategies and annual savings plans Participates in and begins to lead projects; begins to handle a category to ensure balanced annual cost savings and innovative solution
  • Has sophisticated command of Procurement Category and Supplier Management concepts and processes with the ability to work effectively with management or cross- functional teams
  • Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view
  • Provides mentorship, direction, and instruction on Procurement Operations tasks to less experienced team members and colleague

Who You'll Work With

  • Collaborates daily with customers, peers, account leaders and partners in the Engineering group / domain
  • Typically interacts with high-level Individual Contributors, Managers, and serves as a key contact point with clients
  • Serves as a key project team member and leads/balances multiple projects requiring cross- team collaboration and external collaboration

Who You Are

  • Advanced understanding of key Procurement concepts with the ability to explain this effectively to management or cross-functional teams and provide training
  • Advanced understanding of Cisco’s business objectives and the impact on customer processes and deliverables
  • Advanced understanding and insight into Cisco’s contract management process, Experienced professional using expertise in one or more areas to interpret business issues and recommends methodologies
  • Works independently, receives minimal mentorship and direction from manager then resolves the best approach to accomplish work
  • Solves highly-complex problems and takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • Requires knowledge of standard methodologies in Procurement Category and Supplier Management and familiarity with the broader underlying concepts of related business fields
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 12+ years prior work in sourcing, category management or supplier development / management
  • Understanding of the Hardware / Software and Networking industry; understanding of Engineering labor market preferred
  • Strong communications Skills across Cultural Boundaries
  • Strong MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint Skills
  • Global experience a plus
  • Works to improve technology, tools and processes that support work conducted by the job family; plays a growing part in promoting/developing improvements to functional tools and processes
