What You'll Do:

Cisco’s UCTG (Unified Collaboration Technology Group), an industry leader in On-Premise Collaboration solutions, is expanding its responsibilities within the Collaboration Technology Group. We work on design, develop & maintenance of Cisco Expressway Series set of products.

We are searching for an experienced, results-oriented Technology champion to be a key member of the engineering team within our user experience led, agile organization. We are seeking a talented individual with substantial system programming knowledge, application development, who is well versed in the area of software architecture, design and implementation for distributed systems for world’s best collaboration product.

In this fast-paced role you will work cross-functionally with software architects for various other areas in the product, to develop & maintain in-house Linux operating system used in Cisco Expressway series products.  As part of the engineering team you will:

  • You will work in a team driven by world class Agile practices and continuous development methodologies (CD)
  • Participate in product backlog development and grooming as a subject matter expert to achieve the agreed-upon deliverables for a collaboration product in the solution.
  • Maintain highest level of quality, productivity standards for high performing agile teams
  • Have the ability to think and operate based on the big picture at a product level
  • Help maintain the technical talent by participating in training plans, skill development.

Who You Are:

  • BS/MS in Technical Communications, Computer Science, or other relevant technical degree and 5+ years of hands-on industry experience
  • Strong software architectural skills, leading by empowerment and engagement
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong priority management, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, and develop logical solutions
  • Ability to foster teamwork and resolve problems expeditiously and positively
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Natural problem solver


Preferred Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of Linux operating system, with specific focus on optimizing the OS for application performance.
  • Good knowledge of build and debugging toolset - GCC suite, binutils, make, gdb etc., ability to troubleshoot failures and performance issues caused by memory and threading/IPC errors, experience in analyzing core files.
  • Experience in using Linux for concurrent, high-performance applications.
  • Good knowledge of interaction with virtualization technologies - Docker, KVM, VMWare etc.
  • solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex problems across application code, 3rd party libraries and OS interfaces, Strong understanding of Open source
  • Good C/C++ programming skills.
  • Ability and passion for learning new technologies, tools, and methods
  • Knowledge of shell scripting and Python is desirable.
  • Ability to read and understand assembly code for debugging and optimisation is desirable.
