Commerce Operations (CO) expertly manages the operations for Cisco's partners, sellers, renewal managers, and end customers across all hardware, software, and services. Our problem backlog initiative is driven by invaluable partner and seller feedback, which propels the optimization of business processes by minimizing friction through simplification and automation.
You will be joining the esteemed Partner and Field Automation team within Continuous Improvement—a dynamic and influential group dedicated to automating various processes and services that support partners, distributors, and Cisco sellers. The team's mission is to consistently enhance commerce tools, processes, and policies to significantly reduce friction for our Partners and Sellers. We collaborate closely with multiple multi-functional teams to ensure a seamless and streamlined experience.
Your Impact
The Business Architect is a key role responsible for working with critical functions; Commerce Operations (CO), and IT, Finance, Legal, BU, and Supply Chain teams to define Processes, Strategy & Optimization to deliver a streamlined experience to Cisco’s Partners and Distributors.
Here is a summary of the core roles and responsibilities:
- Enable Seamless Experiences: Automate and enhance sophisticated business processes to deliver seamless experiences for Partners, Distributors, and the Field.
- Manage Problem Backlog: Supervise the problem backlog process, ensuring timely resolution of assigned issues and achievement of defined business outcomes.
- Define Business Requirements & Solutions: Analyze problems, identify root causes, and document comprehensive business requirements and proposed solutions.
- Facilitate Cross-Functional Reviews: Lead reviews of requirements and proposed solutions with IT, Finance, Legal, Data Privacy, and other relevant cross-functional stakeholders.
- Drive Solution Design: Lead and actively participate in solution design efforts, ensuring the delivery of streamlined and effective solutions.
- Ensure Release Readiness & Adoption: Prepare for solution releases and drive successful adoption by partners and internal teams.
- Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with Regional Leaders, Partner Ops Managers, Field Ops Managers, and cross-functional teams to identify challenges, develop strategies, and implement aligned services.
- Influence Roadmaps: Influence product roadmaps and scope by defining requirements and solutions for partner-impacting tools related to transformation, optimization, and business operations.
- Report Business Value: Develop and report on key business metrics, outcomes, and value derived from resolved problems.
- Lead Policy & Process Improvement: Drive improvements in policy, compliance, and processes, collaborating with Business Units, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, and Policy teams to align on impacts and changes.
- Own End-to-End Solutions: Drive and own end-to-end solutions, including establishing and handling closed-loop feedback mechanisms.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Commerce Operations Expertise: demonstrated ability in commerce operations (e.g., Quote-to-Cash), including proficiency with relevant tools (e.g., CCW, CCW-R, EA) and processes.
- Transformation Project Expertise: 5+ years of experience supporting large-scale commerce transformation or continuous improvement automation projects.
- Analytical & Influencing Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and influencing skills, with a demonstrable ability to demonstrate data for critical decision-making.
- Agile & SDLC Proficiency: Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile principles, and practical experience with tools like Jira Cloud and Jira Align.
- Good Communication skills: Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders through presentations and reviews.
Other Skills/Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry Certifications: Relevant certifications or knowledge in areas such as Cisco ordering/technology, Six Sigma, or project management (e.g., PMP) are highly advantageous.
- AI/ML Acumen: Demonstrable experience or solid understanding of demonstrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and technologies.
- Adaptability & Resilience: Highly adaptable, proactive, and resilient, with a demonstrated ability to navigate changing priorities and dynamic environments .

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.
Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
